Am I downsizing with this trade?

So, downsizing can mean alot of things. Whether downsizing Legacy to Modern to Standard, or downsizing in terms of # of cards, or downsizing $40 card into 2 $20 cards, etc, etc.
Am I downsizing?
I am trading awayJace, Vryn's Prodigy Flip,
Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh Flip
to get
x2 Abrupt Decayx2 Chord of Calling
My question is, is Jace the real deal? Am I trading away a good $40 card to get a bunch of good $8-15ish staples?

No you are not. Allthough Jace is good, I feel he is overestimated. I think he will plummet after standard rotation. You are trading for Abrupt Decay an eternal card. Both Chord of Calling, and Abrupt Decay should stay where they're at for a long while. You should be fine, in fact that is a good trade for long-term value.

I agree with The_Dragonmaster and FAMOUSWATERMELON
pile2 is the "safer" bet. decay and chord are both stabilized in price. decay is a staple and out of print, will only go up and will always be in demand. jace has potential to move up but more likely he slowly ticks down until rotation. it's probably a harder choice for you right now than it normally would since jace is all the hype and the hot card right now and it seems like you're trading it away for known commodities that most likely won't explode in price, but will tick up slowly which makes it the safer play.

It's tough to say for certain. Jace could be the next Liliana of the Veil and shoot up in price if he continues to perform in winning decklists, or at least approach Snapcaster-like value since many lists run him as a 4-of. On the other hand, if you need the Decays and Chord and plan on using them in a deck, go ahead and get those. Decay sees play in multiple archtypes, and doesn't need to be built around to be good. Decays + Chord is the safer bet imo.

Personally, I think Jace isn't all he's cracked up to be at the moment. I'd take the trade.
That said, Chord is also likely to dip a bit come rotation. Not much, mind you, but some of it's price is due to Standard use. In Modern it's only in 1 or 2 low-tier decks.

100% get those Decays. New Jace might be good, but he isn't better than 2 eternal staples.

I feel like I'm pretty good at spotting long-term value cards and I traded my flip Jace's for a pile of Flooded Strands. I also have picked up a bunch of decays and chords. I definitely would take pile 2 here.

So, actiontech, would you say you... flipped your Jaces into better eternal value? =D

I would personally take the pile with Decay. Jace is really high because he's in Standard now, and although he is a pretty good walker, he won't be worth nearly as much once he rotates. And Chandra is more or less trash outside of Standard.
