Any insight into why it exploded a few days ago? I realize that it's good, but I'm not in tune with the Legacy meta enough to know what decks rely on it.

As a sidenote, I am extremely happy that I got my FTV: Realms a few months ago for 70 dollars.

Exploded? It's around $30. You got jipped if you paid $70 for one, even if it was a few months ago.

He's saying he got the entire set for $70, not the one card. TCGmid is $35 at the moment? I;m not sure..... I traded for one when it was around $10 so I'm a happy guy!

Ancient Tomb -> Sol Ring -> Azorius Signet -> You now have 1 colourless, white, and blue T1. etc etc etc.

Rumor at my LGS was that it has to do with Legacy Show and Tell decks making a return.

I have been wondering this myself even though I don't run it in anything back when it was only 5$ I sold like 5 copies to someone. I feel kinda dissapointed now.

I traded my Ancient Tomb away when it was at 10. Ah well. Also meecht, maybe lay off the racial slurs?

When did he use a racial slur? Jipped means sorta like ripped off.

Devonin - just had to google that. That's a really interesting, but horrible linguistic origin. Learn something new everyday. Thanks!

Jipped -> Gypped.

It's a racial slur referring to Roma gypsies and how apparently they rip people off. Just casual racism ingrained into language without people even realising. I love the Western world.

What did meecht say that was a racial slur?

I can safely say that no one out here actually knows where that term originated. Well, except for me now. Regardless, check the chart meecht and you'll see what I meant by "exploded". After further research, it seemed to be some TCGplayer trickery, with people listing them as non foils. However it does seem to be driving the normal listings up, so we'll see when that all figures itself out.

All I know is that most FTVs are EDH gold (FTV:20 and Exiled as the exception), so I'm hyped for FTV:Annihilation.

Most Legacy MUD (Mishra's Ultimate Dominion) decks use them as a 4-of as well.

I actually had no idea that "jipped" could even be considered a racial slur. It's just a word that I grew up with that means "to be ripped off," and nobody has ever called me out on it.

I apologize if anyone was offended.

Well that just means your community is full of bigots.

Peace, don't worry we all hate travelers. Secretly.

@meecht: I'm in the same boat, never knew it had racial origins. I've heard it on national television, too. Might be a Europe thing. The States doesn't have a large gypsy population, so it didn't originate here. Now that someone said something, it makes sense. It's on-par with saying you "got Jew'd." I always thought it came from the word "yip," which is the sound a dog makes when begging.

As for the topic, Ancient Tomb shooting up in price isn't much of a surprise. It's cousin, City of Traitors , has been steadily increasing for months. A plethora of combo decks in Legacy use them (Show and Tell , a few Ad Nauseam variants, etc.) and it's heavily used in EDH and Vintage.
