How much do you guys think Atarka's Command will be? When it comes out, within a few weeks, and after it rotates?
I'm debating preordering it.

ChiefBell: I totally understand. I would imagine it's going to see play in zoo. It seems almost perfect for burn, and zoo can get the opponent down to 6 life on turn 2 with it. Fits into scapeshift. And it cost so little. Im really excited about it.

I think it'll see play in burn and zoo as well. I don't think it's great in scapeshift though. It's a legitimately good card but I'm just not sure HOW good it is. You know how there's a difference between good 6/10, and excellent 7/10. Which is often the difference between a $5 card and a $10 one. If it sees have play in zoo and burn decks it could go pretty high. $10+?

ChiefBell: oh yea, I definitely get what you're saying.

I only play Standard but I can tell you that ever since DTK spoilers started coming in I've been playing with Jund and Temur lists and Atarka's Command is included at 4 and 3 of, respectively. This is of course with 0 playtesting, however, in theory the relevancy of all the modes (screw you Whip decks; 3 to the face; ramp; support your board) is enough to warrant the inclusion I feel like.

If you look at Lightning Strike its 3 damage for 2 mana, for basically the same cost, just a green instead of a colorless, Atarka's Command still gets in 3 damage and allows you to play a land...
at instant speed
Turn 1: Forest + Elvish Mystic
Turn 2: Mountain
End of their turn: t/ Mountain + Forest = Atarka's command, 3 damage and drop a mountain, then do it again, but drop a Temple of Abandon
Turn 3: Play your 5th land

From what i'm hearing, it will most likely see play in Modern Burn as a replacement for Skullcrack, because they're already splashing Green for Destructive Revelry, and this doesn't prevent you from gaining life so that would help with Soulfire Grand Master. I'm also seeing that Tron/Scapeshift/Zoo could use it as well, but those are less likely IMO. In Standard I'm definitely going to be running a set in my R/G Dragons deck. I'm expecting the price to be $5-10 unless it sees significant Modern play.

Wolfninja - why replace Skullcrack when you can run both? I could see why you would, but I feel like the deck gets a bit better with 5-8 Skullcrack effects than just 4.

Wolfninja: Oh I could totally see it being important in RG Tron. As far as burn goes, I think the deck will run both. Lifegain is burns worst enemy so why not have another? It'll probably replace Lightning Helix and some other 2 cost card. The fact that it doesnt affect soulfire is kind of irrelevant because nobody plays that in modern...definitely not modern burn.

i like it over flames of the bloodhand esp since if the life gain isnt relavant, pumping your guys can make this a 4-8+ damage spell easily, 2 monestary swiftspears means 7 damage for 2 mana essentially

If it's only preordering for $4, buy them. That's pretty cheap, and it will likely see Modern play. Even if it drops, it's low enough that you won't be losing a ton of money. If it goes up (which I expect), great!

JWiley129 and InnerFlame I don't actually play Modern burn, that's just what i've heard burn players saying, and maybe they didn't mean as a replacement to Skullcrack but to something else. And yeah, I can see it being good in Tron, Sylvan Scrying or Expedition Map to get the land you want, then this to play it.

It's currently on sale for $4. I really cannot predict whether it'll be played in standard or modern so I wouldn't be comfortable making any predictions. I would like to THINK it would see play, but I'm not sure.
