At the Dominaria release I received a Baird, Steward of Argive foil with the date 21-22, April 2018 Stamped on it in gold. Is this a special card in any way?

That would be a pre-release card. You can get them when you go to pre-release tournaments
Players at the prerelease receive one stamped version of any rare or mythic rare card from the set as their promo card.
Usually they are worth a little more than the usual foil. For Baird currently though I see a normal foil at ~$1.50 and the pre-release version about the same.

McSleuthburger: my promo foil was a Tiana, Ship's Caretaker and thats an uncommon. Baird, Steward of Argive is also uncommon.

Should of got 2 promo foils. A legendard creature, then a random mythic/rare.

SliverKing90: did you open the promo? They both in same clear wrapper. Or suppose to be.

pskinn01: Why are you asking that? Why does the wrapping matter? I was correcting your grammar.

clayperce often times the prerelease stamped foils go for less than their pack foil counterparts barring the exception of the chase Rares/Mythics of each respective set.

Faceless_Being often times they go for more, because there are less of them.

SliverKing90 there are exceptions BUT it doesn't happen often enough for me to account for the variables regarding that niche case

Faceless_Being: exceptions? niche? no no no. promo foils are basically always worth more than normal foils, period. because there are less of them. "supply and demand" is a pretty simple economic principle.

Yeah, it's what SliverKing90 said.
The exceptions (in which the promos are worth less) are pretty simple too:
- In brand new sets, the promos are generally worth less due to supply and demand. There are simply more of them available (lots of folks sell their promos immediately, and not that many boxes have been opened yet).
- For a number of EDH staples, the promos are worth less, presumably because if someone is foiling out a deck, they want "regular" foils rather than the promos.
Thanks though.

Let's be honest the price of the card is what someone is willing to pay for it. I personally think the pre release promo are ugly with the date stamped on them and prefer the regular foil. But again that's personal preference to each his own. But in most cases I see both usually fetch the same price.

Also for supply and demand to work people have to actually want the product. I could have Stephan Hawkins brain and which there only 1 but if no one wants it then there no demand which means no value

Pre-release cards often sell or trade at a higher value than normal Foils, and certainly higher than the regular versions.
As I type this, the regular version is $0.14 at TCGplayer and the Prerelease is $1.95.
