Once Boros Reckoner & Nightveil Specter rotate out of standard, are their values going to plummet? Reckoner is pretty similar to spitemare and spitemare is less than a buck if I recall, and someone told me nightviel only went up when, master of waves was released.

Nightveil Specter is going to plummet. Modern MBD decks don't use it and Modern MUD is nonexistant as far as I'm aware. Specter was around .20c before Theros was released.

Boros Reckoner might retain some value, as it's overall a great card.

Spitemare is a 4mana 3/3 that has the same static ability as Reckoner, while reckoner sits at 3CMC with 3P/T and the ability to have first strike. I say Reckoner is better, but I don't see it being more than $4-5 after rotation.

If devotion becomes strong enough to make more than a ripple in Modern, either of these cards could retain some value... but even then, there are probably better options.

Both of these are 3-drops, with no immediate effect, and both within range for "dies-to-lightning-bolt"... albeit, the Reckoner gets to "re-lightning" something when/if it gets hit.

If either keep some value, it will be Boros Reckoner , but I would expect it to drop at first, and never get back to where it was at it's peak.

nightveil spectre is garbage expecet to be able to pick up a dozen playsets for a single cent. Boros Reckoner might shed a bit of value, that's to be suspected but it won't go down a lot, at least not for a while. Remember it spiked at like 30/40 dollars for a bit when the hype for it got crazy. Since then it's slowly dropped down to a more reasonable stable price.

Both plummet 70% or more I think.

Nightveil Specter is good in Standard for two reasons, and two reasons alone. It provides devotion, and it is a sideboard gem. The former is easy to assess. However, the latter is only true because of the extremely congested range of options. Almost all decks in the standard metagame play either blue or black, even if only as a splash color. Gruul Monsters is the only tier one deck that doesn't as far as I know, and even that is starting to splash black. There is no MBD or MUD in modern, which means that Nightveil Specter will most likely retake it's place in the random box. (Note: I realize that MUD is kind of a thing in legacy, but it doesn't use Nightveil Specter.)

Boros Reckoner , as much as I love this card, is also not bound for success, but it is not in as hopeless a situattion as the Specter, as it could be solid in a zoo deck. Maybe.

Mono Red Control runs Boros Reckoner and Skred to deliver a fatal blow.

Mono Red Control

It has a home in modern. I'm sure that the price will drop ...but not to the quarter or less a card that Nightveil Specter will go back to.
