I was looking through my Gitrog deck online tonight and noticed that Burgeoning had jumped to $28-$29 last week from $14-$15. What gives?

Probably in response to... Said commander?Idk really, it's pretty darn good, I wish I got ahold of one before it jumped up that high in price.

It's the exact same thing as what happened with Squandered Resources. It jumped from a 50 cent forgotten rare to an $5 card, all because of The Gitrog Monster

Seems a bit silly to ask why card X spiked when card Y was just printed and suddenly makes it incredibly useful. That's how economics work.

Well, I can understand with Squandered Resources which seems obviously good with The Gitrog Monster. But, Burgeoning just seems like a good ramp card in any deck. I hadn't even looked at Squandered Resources, which jumped almost a month ago compared to Burgeoning a week ago. Though, yeah, you guys are probably right.

It counteracts the "downside" that the Hypnotoad has by having you put extra lands on the battlefield early and often so you always have lands to sac. At least, that's what I think.

Well, I mean, Burgeoning is also a ramp all-star in EDH. It's stupidly good if you can keep your hand full of cards, which is made easier by, get this, mana...

I think the price is just a reasonable jump for a very powerful EDH card. The guy over at MTGStocks gives a good explanation. The Toad just nudged it to move.
