Is there any good reason why Chord of Calling is $5?
I feel like I should buy a ton to sell off once the price rises again. I don't understand how the price is so low.
It wasn't always so low. It plummeted when it got reprinted in M15, followed by Birthing Pod getting banned in Modern.

Chord is played as a four of in most CoCo decks, so you know if you wanna play a little money game you can always see if that effects the price.

Chord is also a staple in EDH. It's sure as hell not going to go down. At worst it may see a drop when it leaves standard, but I doubt it.

it'll probably take a couple years for cord to get a good climb after it drops from standard, though it'll probably have trouble breaking the $10 mark, so definitely something worth nabbing a grip of when it hits the "no longer standard legal" price drop.

It either will take a rather long time before the price increases noticeably or it will spike as soon as a Collected Company deck running it as a 4-of will make a strong appearance (top 8 or better) on a large Modern GP. Like the one next weekend for example. And while it's a gamble it's not unlikely that this will happen. Right now it seems like every day a different Modern playable card spikes like crazy (like Oblivion Stone, Olivia Voldaren and now Huntmaster of the Fells Flip and Deceiver Exarch, to name only the ones that spiked during the last few days).

And tell me again how Modern is supposed to be accessible to new players?

Podless pod, pretty much. Coco elves is also doing something. It's in Standard. And it's just an overall good card.

Now is the time to buy them if you don't have them. $5 is rock bottomw. It will be over $10 by next year.

I feel as though the high price of Chord of calling prior to it being reprinted recently was artificial inflation due to its low availability. Now that there are so many more copies out there and it doesn't see nearly any standard play, there is little reason left for it to be expensive apart from price memory.
