Comparing ROI on investing in Shock prints

I'll use round numbers to keep it simple, Right now, Gatecrash Breeding Pools are about $10, and the Dissension print go for about $20.

If you were going to invest $80 in these cards, would the better ROI be on 2 playsets of the Gatecrash or 1 playset of the Dissension print? Maybe diversify and buy a mix?

Fuh, I meant Shocks. I guess the same discussion can be had for Fetches...or any other card, for that matter.

better ROI will probably come on the cheaper reprints because they'll have the furthest to rise in the futures. the original reprintings see smaller falls and smaller rises.

Fixed the title for you.

What ChiefBell said. Also, keep in mind that many Modern players will prefer the RTR prints for availability and cost, so RTR shocks can be liquidated much more easily. Often times, reprints make it much harder to move original copies because few people want to pay extra just for the originals. I won't say that there's no market for the originals (collectors, long-time players, and deck pimps will frequently seek out original prints and foils), but it's harder to tap that market, and the prices don't change as much.

Depends on the card. IE Thoughtseize

However what does ROI stand for?

I wouldn't invest in the older shocks as I think the newer shocks eventually rising to the older shock (current) values is more likely than older shocks rising in value.

APPLE01DOJ, I thought the exact same. Google is you friend.

ROI = return-on-investment :)

Does not knowing what something is abbreviated as really qualify as brain dead?

No.

As a general rule, though, I'll google something before I ask about it in a thread.

Dude named himself after Kanye, so you might take that as in character.

Thanks for your answers!
