Conspiracy Prices

I thought I'd make a thread for general current price checking and speculation about conspiracy prices.

As of right now (7th June) Conspiracy value is as follows for the stores that I order from in the UK:

Dack - $62

Stifle - $27

Exploration - $24

Council's Judgment - $23

Misdirection and Pernicious Deed - $16

That's just the top 5 - there are tons more.

Booster boxes sit at $150, however on ebay they have been steadily rising and are now $190. All the stores are completely sold out.

I bought a pre order box for $150 and was going to open it but now I'm thinking I might just sit on it. I know that this set isn't as limited as Modern Masters was, however in a few years I expect this to be horrifically expensive due to a combination of high value cards and rarity. I expect to be incessantly tracking this over the next few weeks.

What are your plans?

Magiccardmarket (ebay for magic cards) offers a more realistic view with:

Dack - $32

Stifle - $11

Exploration - $11

Council's Judgment - $14

Misdirection - $9.

And SCG has boxes for $120.

my shop sells boxes for retail, they don't ever hike up the price because of speculations or because of what's been spoiled.

I'm torn. I had a chance to buy a MMA box for $180 a few months ago, but I didn't. Now they cost something like $425 or so. I hope that doesn't happen to this set. I think I should probably buy a box while they're still in the $100-$120 range. Expecting them to go up is probably realistic.

Yeh, regardless of what individuals shops do - they quickly hike up in a general sense. Because I have a spare box, the point of this exercise for me personally is to buy low and sell high.

Is not being featured in the top 5 most expensive cards but is certainly a contender.

I really don't think that box prices for conspiracy are going to be anything like MMA, just because wizards has said that they will print as much as the demand requires.

ChiefBell says... #10

They sure will - but not for the rest of time. Whilst the price will be fine for 6 months or so, if we look a year + ahead that's where the money comes in.

True. I think that they are planning on printing to demand for about a year, then stopping. However, I don't know how many people are going to be consistently drafting this so they might stop printing sooner than that. I did a conspiracy draft last night and it is just so tedious to actually do the draft part that it took such a long time and became somewhat unfun after a while. Then the games were OK, but it was mostly a lot of board stalling. I might do it one more time, but I think that for most people, if they want to sit down for a couple hours and play multiplayer magic, they will just play EDH.

Well, if you check on TCG, the price graphs are all going down in the top cards. Every card has hit a decline through Mirari's Wake (and probably further, I'm too lazy to check). This may be because people are getting their hands on them more by drafting and not buying them as singles, but it is a point worth mentioning.

I will check again tomorrow. I fully expect the prices to go down - that's why I'm keeping an eye on them. My point is that over time the pattern will resemble a 'v' - a quick decrease followed by a very long, slow increase.

I've never bought a case of any magic product until this one. I'm not cracking any of it. Long term ROI looks very solid.

I bought a box and pulled all the goodies. I might buy a second and wait.

ChiefBell says... #16

Yeh. You have to balance that initial rush and high price for certain cards i.e - Dack, versus that long term appreciation. Do I open my packs now and hope I pull the right cards or do I just leave them and hope for the increase over the next year or so?

Third consecutive day of booster box increases, however singles price have dropped dramatically. Dack is down to about $35.

Wow really? my lgs is selling the box at $109

Both of the stores I frequent are selling them for $150, but don't actually have any in stock.

JakeHarlow says... #23

Well, I just bought a Conspiracy sealed booster box for $85.99 USD from a seller on Amazon.com. So I feel good about that. Seller has great reviews and seems reputable, but part of me is thinking that this is too good to be true.

EU prices are quite a bit higher than US.

My shop owner is selling me one next week for $110. So, there's that I'm gonna crack it for singles, then get another one in a month or so and sit on it for a while.

June 9, 2014 5:29 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #26

EU prices are very, very high. But our single prices are higher too, so you can seel your singles for more!

Gotcha. I forgot that this was the situation.
