Creeping Tar Pit spikes $8 in a week?

I was going to trade my Tar Pit last week for $12 and now its jumped up to $20? Should I hold off for a while longer to see if it goes higher in case there was a buyout or is it just hype for the new Battle for Zendikar set?

Looks to me like a buyout. If it were hyped, they would be getting sold in fear of a reprint.

Ok I know the prices of MTG cards increase and decrease all the time but it seems like I've seen 2 or 3 of these threads in a week.

That's one unfortunate thing about MTG becoming to big. Lots of people start getting cards solely for investment purposes. Luckily prices spiking this much haven't been remaining this high for very long.

No MM2 reprint = price goes up xD

It also sees play in grixis delver. Some people run it, some Darkslick Shores. But both are usually a one-of so I don't know why that would cause a spike. Probably a buy-out like previously stated.

Everything is spiking. Snapcaster is $80. Blood moon is $60.

That doesn't explain Balefire Dragon. Granted it's only up like 2 dollars, but who the hell uses it besides the random Kaalia of the Vast EDH players? And yet it just keeps going up.

It's a big dumb mythic dragon it's obviously going to go up eventually.

I just find it weird that every time I check the price, it's higher every time. I got mine for like 6 bucks in a trade and now it's up to 8 dollars. It's one of the most consistent dragon prices I've seen since Thundermaw Hellkite was at like 15 dollars for a few years straight before it kinda tanked in recent months.

@canterlotguardian The most recent set was called Dragons of Tarkir. Sellers figured people would be wanting to make lots of dragon decks, so they raised the prices on all the best dragons.

Dragon Mage, Knollspine Dragon, Dragonmaster Outcast, Dragon Broodmother, and Dragon Broodmother all saw price increases as well.

I knew I should have kept my Outcast and Broodmother... That's upsetting.

I meant to say Dragonspeaker Shaman instead of that second Dragon Broodmother.
