so Dark Tutelage has the same effect as Dark Confidant . Besides the latter being a creature and costing one less, why is confidant better?!

Costs 1 less and has a 2/1 body. Trust me, it makes a difference.

The mana cost plays a very large role in it's play.

2 reasons:

1) it costs 1 more to cast

and

2) Dark Confidant is a creature so it can attack and block and get damage through

yep. Thanks for the help guys. As a follow up, I have NOT ordered either card, i just found tutelage to be a little too good to be worth that little. Was it good in standard during its time? I hope so...

This doesn't happen a lot, but if you're are dying to the trigger, you can easily block with Dark Confidant to stop the life loss.

TheGamer basically said it all. Aside from being cheaper, being harder to kill is both a boon and a problem to Dark Tutelage.
