So... Not sure what time this began at... WTH is going on with Voice of Resurgence MTG-Goldfish, Im assuming in relation to the banlist update.. ?!?!?!?

My guess is its still a buy out like Auriok Champion on a most viable card... 77$ though?! o.O

nayrash5 says... #2

Woah, I didn't expect Voice to be the card to jump up first. O.O

DrFunk27 says... #3

Whoa. It's true. It's between $50-$70. Glad I have 4....I bet Thalia spikes too.

January 16, 2016 2:22 a.m.

rockleemyhero says... #4

That's so dumb, I was just in the middle of trying to acquire them...ugh I don't wanna play this game anymore if these buyouts persist. I'm not complaining of high prices for cardboard, I'm more so complaining of people trying (and successfully) taking advantage and manipulating of a market for a card game. This is ridiculous.

Edit: my apologizes on the banter, I read that after the post. To add to the prediction I think it will settle under $50 after the dust settles. Maybe even low $40s.

Memory Lapse (Seventh Ed) is now 30 bucks.

January 16, 2016 5:58 a.m.

sylvannos says... #6

Most foil 7th. edition cards are ridiculously expensive. They may spike every once in a while, but I'd say most (if not all) of the 7th. foils aren't worth speculating on as their prices are pretty much stabilized.

None of the cards are on the reserved list and the reason people like them is because of the black borders with certain art.

Really, it just comes down to buyouts. Currently, there's only 6 foil 7th. copies of Memory Lapse available on TCG player, one of them at $7, 1 at $25, another at $50, and 3 at $230.

So what price spikes and falls do you think are going to occur due to the new modern bannings

January 16, 2016 9:22 a.m.

rorofat says... #8

Kiki is already on the riseI think spellskite will fall, and I'm hoping Geist rises (it wasn't good against twin, because they could win when you tap out).

January 16, 2016 9:36 a.m.

CuteSnail says... #9

The only suspects I can think of are Azusa, Lost but Seeking and maybe Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, because they are inferior cards attempting to fill a void.

January 16, 2016 9:39 a.m.

DrFunk27 says... #10

Well Voice has spiked due to Zoo being a great deck now, and well positioned against Control and Delver. I don't see Voice going lower than $50, and if it shows up at Pro Tour it will be higher. Kiki Jiki has already spiked from $8 to $15 and foils are crazy. Original print foils are now over $70, and Modern Masters are at $25. I think Kiki Jiki will be enough to help the combo stay somewhat alive.

Hey guys Splinter Twin dropped in price... big surprise, huh. Guess it had a sellout instead of a buyout.

January 16, 2016 8:18 p.m.

I've seen a bunch of economics posts regarding various websites no longer accepting Splinter Twins as early as late last night, specifically ABU. If you didn't catch the boat, it has long sailed.

swkelly89 says... #13

ugh, i got rid of my Voice of Resurgences like a month ago =[

January 16, 2016 9:18 p.m.

DrFunk27 says... #14

Yeah, Most online and LGS have stopped buying Splinter Twin. Yay Bulk rare.

Troy242621 says... #15

GeminiSpartanX Modern is quite difficult to buy into from scratch as a new player. Already sank $200 into my deck and still have 4x Inquisition of Kozilek 4x Thoughtseize 3xEnsnaring Bridge to go >_>,....

Will IoQs go back down to the ~$15 range eventually?

January 17, 2016 10:15 a.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #16

Not unless they're reprinted, I'd say.

January 17, 2016 10:29 a.m.

DrFunk27 says... #17

IoK will stay $20+ until reprinted. Could take awhile based on how long it took them to reprint Thoughtseize. It was $50+ for years.

January 17, 2016 11:16 a.m.

Ruffigan says... #18

Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle Launch Party Promo just had a ridiculous buy out, it was less than the normal printing a week ago, hovering around $100 right now.

January 17, 2016 12:01 p.m.

addaff says... #19

Im glad i got a few of them at $3 lol

January 17, 2016 12:34 p.m.

sirbar says... #20

Yeah but their low is still only 18 dollars. They aren't going to stay at 100$.

January 17, 2016 1:06 p.m.

SimicPower says... #21

Karn Liberated is spiking. Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is spiking. Eye of Ugin went up another 10 dollars. I really can't keep up. I feel this spike season was much worse than last years.

Oh Scapeshift and Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle also on the rise.

January 17, 2016 11:58 p.m.

C4rnif3X says... #22

This is pure speculation, and maybe a little far fetched.. But the new Heartless Eldrazi decks are going to be looking for sources of colorless for the new cards they're adding to the deck come OGW. So with that said, i've heard that Tendo Ice Bridge is going to be a land to look for.

Obviously it's a source for colorless, but more importantly it's essential for your turn one Thoughtseize. Even over at MTG Salvation there is some brew lists and this land is in the line-up. It is a little pricey, 7.99-9.99, but I have a hunch it'll spike to the price of a fetch land. Just a heads up. I've bought 2 playsets fully expecting the spike.

January 18, 2016 4:56 a.m. Edited.

Phaetion says... #23

SimicPower: I agree. It's hard to believe that there have been so many price spikes in so short a time. I'm counting around a dozen cards (at least) that have been affected.

And since when did Crucible of Worlds hit $67?

January 18, 2016 9:45 a.m.

Phaetion says... #24

Oh my Bolas...Mindslicer is now $50. That has got to be some sort of error...right?

January 18, 2016 9:48 a.m.

grumbledore says... #25

Wtf? Why Mindslicer?

January 18, 2016 10:46 a.m.

?????????????? It's a decent card, but for 4 mana I would rather have a Phyrexian Obliterator.

January 18, 2016 10:48 a.m.

rorofat says... #27

Wtf? That's just weird :)

So I made a huge mistake a few days ago and sold 2 karns and 3 voices... Epic facepalm time now :)

January 18, 2016 11:13 a.m.

DrFunk27 says... #28

rorofat That sucks.

I was hoping to get another Crucible of Worlds -- oh well, I guess 1 will do.

January 18, 2016 11:15 a.m.

PreZchoICE1 says... #29

so apparently someone bought up all the copies of Mindslicer and mailed them out to the whole pucatrade list that wanted them. Bought at $1, sent at $30. Pucatrade going to intervene and it will drop back down. SCG still selling copies at $4 each. Nothing to see here.

January 18, 2016 1:48 p.m.

PreZchoICE1 says... #30

The_Dragonmaster Obliterator is great, however in EDH if you'd rather have it than Mindslicer I guess you don't mind not making your 3 opponents ditch their hands at an easy cost, possibly on turn 4. Meanwhile with Obliterator you have to put a ton of work into it before it sees any impact, plus the fact that they just kill it when you cast it. They cant just 'kill' Mindslicer they have to exile it.

January 18, 2016 1:52 p.m.

PreZchoICE1 says... #31

Painlands and Panoramas are going to spike. You heard it here first.

January 18, 2016 1:53 p.m.

Painlands, probably, but panoramas? Definitely not.

January 18, 2016 3:24 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #33

Panoramas aren't modern legal.

January 18, 2016 3:28 p.m.

Uuh... they were printed in Shards of Alara. Unless I'm looking at the wrong card.

January 18, 2016 3:29 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #35

Oh.

January 18, 2016 3:34 p.m.

PreZchoICE1 says... #36

Panoramas are Eldrazi fetchlands. Cmon now. :P

and dead at Panoramas not being Modern legal. Im not even thinking about Modern so much as EDH though.

January 18, 2016 3:43 p.m.

Servo_Token says... #37

You use the term "Going to" very liberally. I think what you're looking for is "Might Possibly though probably not"

January 18, 2016 3:48 p.m.

PreZchoICE1 says... #38

All I said was spike. If the average Panorama is a dollar (a vague example) if they go up to 2-3 dollars apiece Id consider that a spike. I dont think people are going to rush out and do a buyout (possible, but not likely) I just think they will incrementally see growth until such point as the playerbase realizes how valuable they are with Eldrazis.

I think if you want to be in the market for running an Eldrazi deck especially in EDH the panoramas are an excellent choice.

The Painlands are definitely going to be a Modern spike. Some of them have already started so clutch any you have tight to your chest for the next month or so to see where they'll settle.

January 18, 2016 3:48 p.m.

PreZchoICE1 says... #39

DevoidMage That's fair, lets put into perspective also that when I said spike everyone thought Mindslicer. Any card 'might possibly' I'm just trying to pull coats to something people might be overlooking when making trades or speculating.

January 18, 2016 3:52 p.m.

saj0219 says... #40

I can't look at any price histories on my mobile to see recent trends, but Ancient Stirrings is up to over $5 tcg mid (a week ago I think it was $2.50ish)

January 18, 2016 9:32 p.m.

SimicPower says... #41

Fulminator Mage is on its way up.

January 19, 2016 3:56 a.m.

Raging Ravine has more than doubled in price over the past few days.

January 20, 2016 11:03 a.m.

DrFunk27 says... #43

And I have 4 foils!!!! Yes!!!

January 20, 2016 2:24 p.m.

Brycetastic says... #44

Foil Collected Company spike!?

January 20, 2016 3:47 p.m.

JuicyPVP says... #45

I think spellskites foil prices are sustainable as they have almost doubled already in 2 years, and it is the beginning of the season.

January 20, 2016 6:13 p.m.

Phaetion says... #46

Palinchron ($38) and Consecrated Sphinx ($23) spiked.

Poor EDH players looking for these.

January 20, 2016 6:37 p.m.

Yeah my brothers holding onto Consecrated Sphinx.

January 20, 2016 6:42 p.m.

Stormcaller says... #48

Is anyone expecting cards, which produce mana of any colour, to go up due to the commander rule change?

For example Chromatic Lantern is at it's highest price since may 15.

January 20, 2016 7:31 p.m.

Possibly. I need a Chromatic Lantern for EDH anyways, so I might as well grab it before it gets really hot. City of Brass and Mana Confluence may see a rise as well. Same for Grand Coliseum.

January 20, 2016 7:32 p.m.

Stormcaller says... #50

Man, I might buy some manafixing-cards for EDH then :D
