Different Set Pricing

So I see alot of cards that get reprinted in sets can sometimes be worth more of value than another set. My question is do you think its fair for a shop to price the different sets with the same price of the higher value? For example a modern masters Path to Exile is 5$ while other sets like commander and conflux are around the 7$ area but they sell them both for 7$.
It probably ultimately depends on what the difference is. I'm usually willing to loose a little or kick in a little more at my local shop just to support it. But I wouldn't say pay a $10 hike up on Stomping Ground just cause that's what the Guildpact ones sell for.

Fair? Not really, but it depends. Speak with your wallet. If you don't think the prices are fair, you might mention it in passing (or otherwise just buy from online stores).

I mean this is just other peoples opinions, I usually buy a lot of things from them so they are nice and give me deals but I just don't think its fair if its a big difference, in today's economy people always want to save an extra buck so if it means taking the ugly art for a cheaper price then it should be that way, but I do understand they are concerned about making money for sure.

They have the right to sell a card for whatever price they choose, honestly. I know many shops base their prices off tcgplayer or star city, but it's not as if single cards have a set MSRP. Like Epochalyptik said, let your wallet do the talking. If you don't agree with a price, don't pay it. If they value you as a customer, maybe they'll cut you a deal. If not, it isn't the end of the world. It's all just cardboard, amigo.

Unfortunately, the main concern of the LGS is to make money, just as it is for any store. I'd prefer to pay the cheaper price any chance I get, but if the shop owner knows players will pay the higher price for the lower valued print version, they're gonna sell it for that. At my LGS, few of the cards have a price marked because it can fluctuate daily. The owner usually just looks up the current median price and sometimes even comes down from that a little bit. Other than that, he has all bulk rares marked at $1, including most foil versions unless there is a significant difference in price.
