What do you guys think will happen with Dragonlord Ojutai's price. It is currently at $30, but i suspect it will start to drop. What do you guys think will happen to his price for the rest of 2015? What about Post Rotation? Please give your thoughts!
I think it can see Modern play, but only fringe. I expect it'll have some price strength for EDH. I think for Modern it will stay $15-20ish for it's stay maybe even down to $10. I think after rotation it will be $8ish.

It sees some minimal EDH play, but it's not going to justify a huge price tag. I'd guess somewhere in the 5-10 dollar range for a while after rotation, perhaps less.

If control gets more tools in modern, it's possible this thing could see some fringe use in modern. Still, as it stands, it needs to compete with Restoration Angel. In order for that to happen, we'd need to see some way for the traditional grindy control to generate value or card advantage with a greater degree of safety.

It just seems like an unsustainable price level to me, as while it is a major player in a top level deck, the deck itself is by no means dominant and it's simply not a card that gets 4 copies shoved in every deck that conceivably cast it. I would expect a regression as we move into Origins as there will be new shiny toys to fight over (although the possibility remains that something is printed there that works so perfectly with Ojutai that he maintains his hefty price tag).
I suppose it is possible that he could find a spot as perhaps a 1-of in a Modern U/W Control shell, but that's not exactly an archetype that's been setting the world on fire recently and I see little promise that it shall do so particularly soon. As such I'd not tie a ton of hope to the card retaining that much of it's value upon rotation. With that being said, with it being in DTK and the unique situation of the change in block structure and how rotation is being handled during this time, the Dragonlord has a pretty long time left in Standard.

Isn't it a little early to be concerned about when it rotates?? I mean that is close to 16 months away, if we could all tell you what things would look like that far down the road we'd all be amazing speculators raking in the big bucks off of mass speculations.

I think it's fair to expect a slightly bigger price tag than the Revenant, because Ojutai A) is flying, and therefore more likely to actually get a damage trigger B) is legendary/mythic rather than simply rare C) is a dragon and has better art for collecting value and D) is a 5/4 body rather than 4/4.
Also, I wasn't around to know what standard was like with Revenant, but I don't think Revenant Control was that successful, was it? He's never been more an a dollar. Ojutai is a part of some fairly successful decks right now, and market memory will keep him somewhat higher.
Not huge differences, so I'm not expecting a huge price tag, but a few dollars sounds fair still, rather than being a junk rare post-rotation.

Theoretically, the price should dip close to rotation, having already hit it's peak currently. The card is good, but Origins and RTZ will determine it's usefulness in the near future.
Overall, I wouldn't worry about it's price moving too much right now, as it will not rotate until next year.

Its really only used in standard so it should be cheap once it rotates. Hope it drops soon, I want a foil for my deck ><
