Economic Impact of From the Vault

Is there any significant impact on the price of cards released reprinted in a From the Vault series, after it is released.
My specific scenario:I was planning on grabbing an Avacyn, Angel of Hope the week "From the Vault: Angels" was announced but I held off with my fingers crossed that Avacyn would be reprinted, and I could get a foil for less than 100 bucks. Upon observing the From the Vault series print-style though, I realized I just am not a big fan of that style of foil. So now I figured I'd just go ahead and grab avacyn now, but want to make sure there's not going to be a big dip in price in a couple of months that I should be waiting for if she Does get a reprint.
I'm not really totally counting on her, but I expect that she's a likely candidate for inclusion in the set. It she dips $5 it won't bother me but I would really hate to shell out ~30 odd bucks and then see her drop to $10 or $15 for a few months, if she did see a reprint.

FTV sets rarely have a large impact on previous prints. Especially sought after cards.
The cards that are more likely to see a dip in price are the cards nobody really cares about but are still at a few dollars. The cards that flippers "toss" away after buying a pack for resale.
Say you have a $10 angel that isn't too special (I'm not a specialist on angels so don't ask me) next to a foil FTV Avacyn and Iona. Most people will be buying the FTV sets exclusively for those two cards, and won't really care about the rest. Those "excess" cards will see a price dip, the high-end staples won't (Not at least by too much).
Not to mention a lot of people dislike the foiling process of the FTV cards (myself included) and so previous foil prints will be largely unaffected.

Sleazebag Cool! Thanks. That's exactly the advice I was looking for. I figured as much but I didn't know so I figured I'd ask before going out and putting in my purchase order. Thanks guys.
and yeah I really don't like the foiling process for FTV either. Bla

I think Jace, the Mind Sculptor took a pretty hefty hit when he was announced in FTV:20. That summer he dropped from about 150 down to the 90-100 range he is at now

almerican: That also had a lot to do with it being banned in standard and modern.

Sleazebag that is true, but I think he was banned in Standard back in 2011, not sure about Modern.
There was a steady decline in his price after Gatecrash (?) though.

almerican: Yes, but pricedrops are usually gradual. JtMS only sees play in Legacy and some play in vintage, and the number of Legacy / Vintage players is extremely low compared to standard and modern.
It's pretty safe to assume the players that wanted to run JtMS in legacy and vintage had already gotten their hands on it as standard players offloaded them (Or already had them from before the standard ban).
The reprinting of JtMS caused the price to drop drastically because a large amount of the people who needed one already had one. The price was slowly adjusting to the new demand but the sudden influx of new cards hastened the process.
That said, you are completely right in saying that the reprint caused the price drop!

If you want to look closer at how the price of JtMS changed, check this link:

As you can see, the card was already steadily sinking before the print.
In fact, it continued sinking at the exact same rate as before the FTV:20 print was well!

JtMS Ultimate Price currently set has to do with demand. Liliana of the Veil is very much taking his place as the Planeswalker, as she is also Modern legal.
As far as the OP goes, it all has to do with supply and demand. Alternate art, foil copies can sometimes go for more, as exlempified by Sensei's Divining Top. If Avacyn were reprinted as a FTV with fantastic art, you bet she'd fetch a pretty penny as the demand for foil singletons in EDH is high.

JTMS will always be the planeswalker. No debates, no matter the price or legality there will never be a planeswalker nearly as good. And Liliana isn't even close.

Liliana of the Veil is becoming the planeswalker because she is legal. If Jace got unbanned, Jace would immediately become the planeswalker by a long shot. Also there would be a massive price spike.

No, it doesn't matter what's banned and what's not. Jace is the guy. End of story.

Avacyn is mainly an EDH card from what I know. Reprints on cards like that in a singleton format will affect the price more then Goyf in MM since those decks want 4. Sleazebag seems to have a good grasp of the subject.

Based on what they've previously put in From the Vault sets, I wouldn't totally count on Avacyn or Iona for that matter making an appearance in this Box. That said, should she be reprinted, she will dip slightly, but will also stay at that price for a fairly long time, as the market supply for her will increase while demand should stay constant for the foreseeable future.
