Elspeth, Sorin & Dig Through Times - Buy or Sell?

I currently have an Elspeth, Sun's Champion which is sitting around $23 mid on TCG Player. With duel decks: Elspeth vs. Kiora on the way will Elspeth drop in price? I cant see myself playing her but am unsure, should I be looking to sell her while the price is high?

Also I heard that Dig Through Time is seeing lots of play in legacy and people at my local game shop think prices are expected to rise pretty high. I need a few for my deck but was planning to hold off till the new year, should I be buying them now?

Forgot to mention Sorin, Solemn Visitor who is at $19.99 mid, who again is another plainswalker I do not plan to play. I'm not experienced on how prices tend to trend for planeswalkers.

Sell the Planeswalkers. Keep Dig... :D

The planeswalkers are not useful in eternal, especially Elspeth. Sell them. Dig is cool and starting summer 2015, it will rise continuously.

Most planeswalkers are at their peak price around the time they come out, or remain in Standard. Most seems to lose about 50% of their value when they rotate out to Modern, except the rare cases of the crazy overpowered ones like Jace, the Mind Sculptor and Karn Liberated. Some even drop while still in Standard play, for example Garruk, Apex Predator was going for around 25GBP when M15 was released, now he's down to 10GBP in most places I've seen.

The new set probably won't drop the price for the Theros edition of Elspeth much while she's still in standard, but the dual deck version will probably go for cheaper; editions of cards make a difference to the price too.

Liliana didn't fall either - she rose. Massively.

Sorin is seeing SOME play in modern but not enough to support him - sell.

Elspeth sees no play - sell.

Dig through time is unlikely to be banned and is really important in modern - keep

I'm with ChiefBell, hang on to Dig Through Time and dump the rest, you can pick up an Elspeth, Sun's Champion later (she is good, not $23 good) at a much cheaper price. Sorin, Solemn Visitor will eventually be much cheaper than he is now. Sell ASAP.

Yep, if you're concerned about value, cash in on the walkers. Dig Through Time will be an important Eternal card for years to come, so hold onto those. I imagine it may climb to $24 or more within a year or so of leaving print.

I do think it's important to get your Elspeth, Sun's Champion sold as soon as possible (if you want to fetch a solid price), since Elspeth vs Kiora will considerably drop her price for the remainder of her Standard days. And she won't stay around in Modern, at least for competitive lists. I imagine she'll dip to around $7-8 after she rotates. After her Duel Deck printing, she'll go to around $14, I imagine. These estimates are based off of earlier, similar patterns of Planeswalkers who received a Duel Deck printing while still Standard-legal. Jace, Architect of Thought is a good recent example.

@JakeHarlow Jace, Architect of Thought is definitely a good comparison point, and if we use that, those prices are optimistic. JAoT dropped to about $7 in May and currently sits at $3.

If you have Elspeth you're not using, you need to sell now.

Elspeth is pretty good in Commander. I would still sell, but it can see eternal play.

Right now is a terrible time to sell KTK cards as we have entered the holiday lull. Prices should start to creep back up when Fate starts spoiling. You should hang onto those cards. Now is a good time to start acquiring the Standard staples and Fetchlands you will need over the next year.

Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Kiora, the Crashing Wave are going to continuing declining as we approach the release of the duel deck. Elspeth still see's a lot of play and is okay to hold onto if you are going to use her, $8 seems like the floor even after the decks are out. Kiora on the other hand needs to be moved now, she could drop up to 50% by mid January.

sell walkers, buy Dig for now. I think it will drop off eventually but for now it is a buy.

Elspeth has already dropped about $20 from her peak so yea. Shell be like 5-10 dollars eventually. Nearer to rotation.

I'm not a big fan of this Sorin yet, but a lot of people like him. Right now I think he is riding hype more than anything. He will lvl out same as Sorin, Lord of Innistrad.

if u need the walkers u can always re-buy them as those 2 you mentioned will be relatively cheap in future.

Dig foils are great, non foils will come down some more imo. It sees a lot of play across a lot of blue decks in standard, so a ton of copies are around, and more will continue to be opened as boxes of khans are opened for fetches and foil fetches, and drafted. Dig non foil will continue to drop as a rare. FOIL digs are great and have been creeping up and holding a good solid price. Long term spec on dig i wouldnt buy in now, but when it comes down more I wouldnt mind a few playsets bc it will go up, its a great card, and a lot less likely to see a ban than treasure cruise.
