Elspeth, Sun's Champion

How do you guys think Elspeth will develop in price? I pulled one from a booster pack I had bought, and I don't really need her all that much. I'm just wondering whether I should hold on to her for a little while, or get rid of her whilst the Theros hype is still upon us.

Thoughts?

I've been playing elspeth since she came out and it's incredible how much she impacts the board and the game overall.

Considering that SCG is selling Elspeth, Sun's Champion at $40 and she started preorders at $20, I think that she's only going to go up while she's in standard. at least until the Elspeth/planeswalker hate comes in.

Elspeth goes nicely with the Purphoros. While making an army and dealing damage, chump block all day and beef Elspeth up. Pesky fatties? Exile them. Her ultimate isn't that great for her CMC and loyalty cost though. I'd hold onto her for a bit.

Her ult is the weakest of her abilities, I'd say.

If her ultimate was "Creatures you control get +2/+2 and gain flying, lifelink, and vigilance" then I could see the justice in it.

Any two of the three would be acceptable; or indestructibility.

Bottom line though, is every incarnation of Elspeth has seen play, and will continue to see play. They all have done relatively the same things while each being different. I don't see her losing any playability but the price will drop over-time like it always does until they stop printing it.

The only addendum to what Stone_Munkee said is that if Elspeth, Sun's Champion becomes a staple in Modern/Legacy. 6 CMC might be too high for those formats, but if she does just expect her price to rise.

I was thinking of holding on to her, to see how the price fluctuates, and then eventually trade her off for store credit at my LGS.

Personally, she is my favorite card from Theros. That said, I think her price will go down as she settles into certain niche decks like control once everyone else turns toward the speed of aggro again. I would unload her in the next week or 2. The deck that won the most recent SCG event ran her as a 2 of win con. So things like this will impact her price...esper being a powerhouse now, too, will make her valuable, but I see most of her trade value being at its peak now or within the next few weeks as I predict aggro wil begin to take over
