Glimpse the Unthinkable
Anyone have a good idea what it's price would do in the future. I really want a set of them, but at their price, I'm not sure if it's worth it...

Idk if it's price would drop and I'll just grab them later. Or if they'd only go up and I could get them now, play them in sleeves and sell one day!

If you have a suggestion, please state why you think that way. Thanx everybody.

It sees play, so until it gets reprinted, it will probably slowly creep up, unless something new comes along to obsolete or replace it.

@maxon - Well in one of my decks (Best Modern Mill: Jace's Grinding Machine), I'd like to use both!

@Devonin - I keep thinking of the old cards that are worth an assload... I could see Glimpse, becoming like that. I also don't see many cards being better at that cost lmao

Its price has been pretty stable over the past couple of years. It's a four-of in the decks that run it, but those decks are pretty niche when it comes to competitive play. Its main use is in casual mill decks, meaning it's not like it's going to have a Force of Will price tag.

Glimpse the Unthinkable 's price isn't going to drop unless they reprint it. In which case, the older, Ravnica: City of Guilds version will have the same price. You're safe from losing money if you pick them up now. But don't expect to make bank on them from them shooting up in price. Snapcaster Mage and Liliana of the Veil are the two cards you can speculate the most on right now, along with Deathrite Shaman .

Glimpse will always be an expensive card due to the allure of mill to casual players and timmy as well as johnny. Mill is already on the fringe of playability in Modern plus it will always have new cards printed and things that interact well with it. One day mill will become a viable option in Modern, maybe Legacy and the day that happens Glimpse will become a 49.99 card.

Mill is viable, people just want to spend thousands on their tron decks or merfolk to make top 8 every week, ive top 8 with mill you just have to see what's being played and learned to deal with em. Control Mesmeric Orb is your best friend. You can either go control/mill or just straight mill! I got my playset and I love my mill deck for sure its alot of fun!

@sylvannos - May I ask why you say that about those 3?

@SnowCoveredRevenge - Yeah that makes sense. I personally love milling and I'm waiting on those cards you speak of :p

Thanx for the advice. I think you're all right. I may try and splurge soon and grab a set.If you're interested, you can check out my modern milling deck, Best Modern Mill: Jace's Grinding Machine

I definitely can't get them right now, but I might be able to squeeze them in by X-mas

Snapcaster Mage is up there with Dark Confidant and Tarmogoyf in terms of power. He's played heavily in every format where he is legal; Modern, EDH, Vintage...you name it. I'd expect him to hit $40 within the next two years.

Liliana of the Veil is similar. She's played more than Jace, the Mind Sculptor and is arguably the second best planeswalker ever printed. Considering her prevalence and effectiveness in Modern, don't be surprised if she hits $75 or even $100.

Deathrite Shaman is up in the air. It depends on how well B/G/x does in Modern and if they decide to ban him or not. He's strictly better than Birds of Paradise and Noble Hierarch in the decks he's played in. If he doesn't get banned, then he's going to shoot up to $30+ when he rotates out of print. He's played as a four-of in multiple Legacy decks, at least a three-of in Vintage decks that do play him, played in EDH, and played as a four-of in Modern. If he does get banned in Modern, he'll still be a really sought-after card due to eternal formats, but will probably hover in the $20-$30 range.

I just broke down and purchased a playset of this card myself. Not in the hopes that it will retain its value( its in Chinese) but because I " needed" them. The wife was not thrilled but understands its a hobby and would prefer that I spend on cards to pissing money away in a bar, which I am also fairly good at.

November 5, 2013 7:07 a.m.

@Quadsimotto - I completely understand that. I had a similar "hobby" that was replaced for Magic lmao. I am pretty sure it's cheaper lmao and tangible :P

Glimpse seems to be in a holding pattern and I would probably expect it to stay there.

Holding pattern as in, it'll stay there?
