Why is Mycosynth Golem worth so much?
It appeals to affinity players who want to drop a Blightsteel Colossus with relative ease. Mainly used in a non-competitive setting.
I think it's a cool card.

It's also from Fifth Dawn, which wasn't opened very much. So that is another good reason, it's a rare from a rare set.

It can be insane in EDH. And low supply drives the price upward.

That whole mirrodin block was my favorite. I loved mirrodin prior to phyrexia..... Wish i could still buy all the sets

Casual appeal. Artifact based EDH decks, bad affinity, etc.
