Hey everyone, I bought a couple inkmoths a few days ago and one was this one Inkmoth Nexus that has the shade of Blinkmoth Nexus and such but the other one was darker the whole card was like a shade darker. Is this a thing? I dont know much about slightly older cards like this and I am making sure this isnt a fake. I tried the bend test and assuming I did it right it passed I just want to know if you guys know anything about this. Thannk you

I think its fake, not 100 sure, thouh.

I don't think it's worth it to make a good fake of a 20$ card...

It's not all that uncommon for older cards to have different coloring. As recently as Return to Ravnica, cards would sometimes have different colors on occasion.

those arent old. I was playing durring that time and I had 9 of them, all of them the same color as the picture of it.

Yes, we can't tell you anything without seeing what you're talking about for ourselves.

First, moved. Counterfeit card discussion goes in Economics.

Second, this thread is useless to us without pics. Whenever you're asking about a specific physical card, ALWAYS post pics.

Ok here are the cards sorry I dont know how to put them in with HTML and sorry epoch I didnt know where this went in the forums and wanted to know if this is common knowledge before I post pictures...anyway. Darker Card brighter card together for comparison

ok, those are real. it doesnt vary enough.

"Common knowledge" isn't really relevant without pictures because we can't trust a prosaic description of the cards to tell us everything with exact and unerring detail.

Anyway, this looks like common color variance that occurs during printing. If the card seems fake for any other reason (bend test, finish, etc.), then there's cause for concern.

Yeah, that seems fine to me, at least by what I can see in the picture. Shading differences happen sometimes in different print runs of cards and whatnot. As long as there are no severe differences, you shouldn't have a problem with any card like this. Normally fakes have an obviously different feel to the gloss on them as well, for further testing if that's what you're looking for.

It was printed in the Mono G New Phyrexia Infect Event deck. All cards from that event deck (and presumably other event decks) have a darker and slightly glossier finish. I know because I had it :D

Unforgiven thanks a bunch that really sheds some light

I can second unfogiven on that. I traded away the nexuses but I still have DKA and event deck hellriders and the event deck version is darker and less glossy and uglier

No problem. The other New Phyrexia Event deck was also like that. So I had the same thoughts about my Stoneforge Mystics. I traded em
