Fate Reforged Prices

Hey, I was considering preordering some Fate Reforged cards, but I have NO IDEA which ones might keep their value, rise, or drop. I don't play standard much anymore, so I don't know which ones would really be that good in the format. Could anyone please tell me their value predictions based on the current standard (or other format) meta?

I think Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest is a good buy right now for $2. Jeskai Aggro might end up using him. Rabblemaster with a bunch of Goblins + double strike seems pretty good.

Crux of Fate is pretty cheap now too and could be going up in price if Dragon tribal becomes a thing (next set will probably have loads of dragons too)

Despite what people say, Monastery Mentor will rise from its current price. It will see loads of Modern play as well as be a staple in Standard until rotates completely.

The only card I invested in a set of was the Torrent Elemental because a store near me had them pre-order fr $1.50. It has already doubled in price at that same store. I dont think its going to be a huge bomb in constructed but its a decent card.I am not investing in preorder of any of the high cost cards because I honestly dont think they will rise. My pre order senses have been pretty good lately with picking up cheap anafenza, sorin and rabblemasters before their price spiked.

capriom85 How much higher will it go? TCGPlayer has them for almost $30 a pop. Cards that are still in print rarely go above that.

omnipotato, I'm talking long run. It's going to stay high throughout standard, maybe dip, but stay high similar to what Brimaz is doing. After it rotates in about wjat, 8 months, it will go up I say. I'm not talking a 3 figure card, but I can it being $40 once it is out of print and finds homes in Modern. I can see it fitting into so many Modern decks right now and you know someone is going to break it in a new build that hasn't been created just yet. I see it being just slightly under the price tag of Bob and Liliana.

Ah ok I was thinking short term, since OP wanted to know which cards were gonna be good in Standard.

I can see it being powerful in Modern but there's no deck it can just fit into instantly. Delver decks don't usually have white and white decks don't usually have a lot of instants/sorceries. Maybe we'll see Jeskai Delver with Young Pyromancer and Monastery Mentor but I don't know if it'll be as consistent as the UR variety.

I've preordered (3) Tasigur, the Golden Fang at $2.50 and (3) Crux of Fate at $1.90, but that's it so far.

Crux will probably fall from that price, but I play enough U/B Control that I wanted them immediately. Tasigur because it seems potentially insane.

I'll probably preorder some more after prerelease weekend to fill out uncommon playsets, and any rares/mythics that look reasonably priced.

I would like to get (1-2) Ugin, the Spirit Dragon & playset of Monastery Mentor, but not at those prices.

@capriom85omnipotato I think it's going to be a Standard powerhouse, but I don't see it having much impact on Modern. That extra is a real cost; the decks that could use him will just play Young Pyromancer.

for a lot more power though. Those prowess triggers can end the game ridiculously quickly

In Jeskai Delver, it's competing with Geist of Saint Traft. The fact that it doesn't affect the board the turn it comes down, and could die to Lightning Bolt without accruing any value makes me think it won't be a thing in Modern.

In Standard, it should make Jeskai Tokens much more powerful. That should keep it a chase mythic.

omnipotato and jr92_2000, BW tokens will want this. Tidehollow Sculler just isn't as great and this makes tokens for every other card you can play in the deck besides Hero of Bladehold. Play an anthem, get a monk. Make some tokens, get a monk. Path an opponent's Goyf, get a monk. Yes...this will impact Modern. It may fit into a Jeskai Delver, not are Geist is the right choice there. He is like playing 5-8 Pyromancer, but a little better. It makes your opponent's 1 for 1 removal of yiu tempo threats a little less devastating.
