Fated Retribution

I managed to cast Angel of Serenity quite regularly with my Bant brew back when ISD was still the standard, I can see Fated Retribution being ramped to and used as a more effiecient board wipe effect than the angel can provide, although the angel can win the game, Fated does not.

Think the price will come up once people decide it's not too hard to ramp up to?

Why ramp into a board wipe that will destroy the creatures you used to ramp with?

The way to use this is in azorius control, untap, play seventh land end turn. If your opponent overextends or threatens your life with an attack blow the field. Otherwise sphinix's rev for 4 cards and 4 life.

This card is scary against U/W control since at seven mana they have two, equally terrifying, spells they can cast to either get them far ahead of you or nerf your entire field.

Either one is a feel bad.

@meecht At 7cmc this card isn't something you rip T3 after dropping multiple dorks, it's meant to wreck established board states without dipping into black for Merciless Eviction or Hero's Downfall .

On topic, Fated Retribution is a dollar rare right now and it is going to go up to at least $8-9 in my opinion. It's going to be a control staple until it rotates out. Instant speed Wrath of God s are always good.

@ Behgz - the OP actually states "I can see Fated Retribution being ramped to..." which implies he means to use dorks and such to cast it as soon as possible.

I can see it as a 1-of in U/W Control, maybe a 2-of. It'll be something to cast if they don't have a Sphinx's Revelation in hand and could use a big tempo play late-game.

meecht - I think U/W control will run 2 main and 1-2 in the sideboard. It is a dead draw against the mirror, but against any creature based deck, it's a blowout.

@meecht I actually started this thread so if you want to tell me what I was implying go right ahead.

HA, so you are. My bad.

What do you mean by ramping into it, then? The way I see it, you would ramp into Angel of Serenity (a win-con) and stall the game using Fated Retribution (a board wipe).

Ramp is derived from the card Rampant Growth as far as the bant deck I referred to with ramp, I meant Farseek .

There isn't a direct reprint of those cards in standard atm, but there could be in journey into nyx or the next core set.

Karametra, God of Harvests can defs ramp, but if you can afford her cmc you can probably just rip the Fated Retribution then and there.
