Fluffy Finances: Tetsuo Umezawa Is Over $40?
Can we talk about whatever the hell happened to Tetsuo Umezawa for a second?
Im assuming that was a buyout that is preying on Tiny Leaders and the scarcity of the card. If it worked for other Commanders, like animar, soul of the elements, then itll probably work on a card that is much more rare if a buyout is coordinated. I mean, it could also be that he is basically the only 3 cmc Grixis commander that I can think of off the top of my head, but this spike was too big to not have been assisted.
However, case and point regarding scarcity.
Pendelhaven from Legends has now doubled the cost of its Timeshifted reprint. $18 isnt too shabby for a card once worth $3.
Speaking of Tiny Leaders. Nin, the Pain Artist had a spike as she (?) is the only commander for Tiny Leaders in Izzet colors. It appears that spike is now over.
Oh, and, Animar, as previously mentioned.
Ive previously written about the big guy and thought he would tank shortly after his spike, but he appears to be holding relatively steady.
I should also note that the unbanning of World gorger Dragon is continuing to have weird economic side effects. Check these out:
And to a lesser extent:
These could be attributed to the new legendary Elder Dragons and their roll in EDH as well, but hey, I guess some people just want to play dragons.
GP Miami:
So, I did a thing. I went and grabbed as many Ugins Fate promo Mastery of the Unseen as I could get my paws on pre-GP Miami due to the intense amount of hype I was hearing from just about everyone I knew that was attending. I happily got rid of them shortly thereafter.
The Wrapup:
Outpost Siege has probably found its cruising altitude of just over $4. If you bought them low, now might be a good time to get your return on investment maxed.
FNM Promo Smother has spiked, as has its Worldwake foil counterpart to a lesser extent. It probably wont stay where it currently is if you took my advice and got some, now would probably be the opportune moment to look at getting them moved out of your collection.
Humble Defector stayed humble and went nowhere.... oh well.
And foils of Tasigur, the Golden Fang are holding steady as well.
I will have a spec list and longer wrapup on my next article as well as a brief bit of looking ahead at the currently spoiled cards from DTK.

I think Scion of the Ur-Dragon and Karthas can mostly be attributed to the plethora of new dragons printed in Dragons of Tarkir, not specifically Worldgorger.

Like I said, some people just want to play dragons.

Some people just want to watch the world burn. Via dragonfire.
I wonder when this Tiny Leaders price phenomenon will end and where these cards will be when that happens.

@GoldGhost012 Yeah, I've been wondering that too. TL is not something I would invest in though, it seems too shaky. The phenomenon will end in maybe a year or so when people figure out if TL will stay around. After that the buyouts will end due to people figuring out exactly how much they're willing to pay for which commander.

Just by the by, Jhoira of the Ghitu is viable in Izzet colors in Tiny Leaders.

@CharlesMandore Jhoira is a lot worse in TL though, and has seen more print. If I was forced to buyout something on grounds of TL, Nin wouldn't be an awful choice.

Agreed, though I was just mentioning there was another option.

It's pretty much just tiny leaders screwing things up man.
