Foil Courser of Kruphix

Saw a similar thread about a Foil Abrupt Decay , which made me realize that I should be asking the same question about my Foil Courser of Kruphix .

I'm a new player, started playing a few weeks before Born of the Gods. Made a few mistakes along the way... traded a foil Godless Shrine ... yeah....

But then I made good on another deal, trading for a foil Courser of Kruphix back when it was a $3 card, and I was just trying to acquire a playset. Fast-forward a few months and it's a $15+ card even after the clash pack's debuted.

Should I be selling this or holding onto it? Right now it's a staple in my mono-green devotion I've been playing with since I started the game, but I should be able to pick up a non-foil pretty easily if I get rid of it, since someone I know is bound to pick up that clash pack.

It is a little hard to tell...courser has been dropping since the clash packs were even announced...down to 12 bucks but it is a great card. I personally think it will go down even more because it does not see enough eternal play to keep it past its own rotation and there will be enough in standard to keep demand low. That being said its just my opinion. If you do decide to trade it thought I may be interested in it.

It's played in Modern. I've seen it turn up in Jund, Rock and Zoo. Many EDH decks want that kind of effect too.

it's going to go back up in price. the small drop that came with the clash packs will only be momentary. Mono green is looking good for the foreseeable future, along with R/G, and Jund. With the first set of khans being wedge focused, Junk may see some considerable play and is always a possible inclusion in those decks. The card is still awesome so it's price should come back up, especially after rotation and we lose 4 sets worth of powerful cards. I also don't know about there being enough in standard to keep demand low. It was from a small middle set that everyone was rather unimpressed with so there hasn't been as much of that set opened as there was something like Theros. Plus it's been seeing more and more play in non rotating formats as MindAblaze! pointed out. The price will remain high during it's time in standard so your safe holding onto it if your not in dire need of acquiring other stuff. After it rotates (a year away), I couldn't tell you because it'll all depend on what the meta in the other formats looks like at that time.

Hold it. I'm holding mine because I love it in EDH. Modern Foils only go up. Be willing to ride the standard roller coaster, because it will only go up once it is out of print. And foils rise exponentially compared to the basic price.

The price may say up due to it's use in EDH, EDH is effecting card value more and more as the player base grows, a foil Courser of Kruphix may hold it's value better than the non-foil as some EDH players just love to have all foil decks.

Wow, thanks for the advice guys! I'm not in any sort of financial straights so I'll definitely hold onto it for now. There looks to be plenty of reason to think it'll only go up, and I'm more than happy playing with it for now.
