FOIL Karn Liberated

Not so much an economics question as it is a plain old value question. I recently made a trade for a Karn Liberated
and the guy valued it at $95 (full TCG mid) which is what I gave up for it. I seen a picture of it in a binder but it wasn't a very clear picture and I couldn't tell it was HP and assuming most people are decent I figured if it wasn't NM, or close to it, he would have let me know. Received the card today and it's heavily played and I don't want it anymore. I checked online for some HP Karns for sale to gauge value but couldn't find any. Anyone have an estimate of what I can value it at so I can trade it away? I'm guessing $50ish but I really have no clue, I only collect NM foils so I'm unfamiliar with HP values.
The only good thing about this trade was I gave up a bunch of $1-$5 "junk" standard cards i have a ton of.

On tcgplayer, heavily damaged is going for about 30-35 dollars.

That does suck though. At value like that, conditions should be clarified. I bet you could still get 45-50 though

Oof, yeah. You might fetch $27 at an LGS. If you're lucky. Sorry dude. Any chance you'll be able to do an un-trade with the vendor?

Yeah see if you can send it back or undo the trade, he should've clarified the condition.

He said he'll give me the difference in value on the trade were working on now so about $50 value. This is the same guy I traded my Scalding Tarn to and was supposed to receive a Bloodstained Mire - Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and Flooded Strand in return but the FOIL Flooded Strand wasn't in the package. We made the two trades days apart so I didn't know I was short the strand yet. It sounds like he's going to send a Misty Rainforest in place of the missing foil strand and difference in the Karn value so I'm trying to stay cool until I get the card(s) in my hand.

If he's forgetting to send cards or ripping you off I'd be careful with trading with him in future.

Lesson learned for everyone especially myself, ALWAYS ask for clear photos and condition before trading/buying. I'm a big hockey card collector too and in that world 99% of people will let you know if the card isn't NM+ . My fault for being naive...
Thanks for the estimates guys, $35-$50ish is what I'm looking at.

In the Magic world usually 99% of the people will let you know what the condition is, but there's that one percent that sometimes are a little sketchy.

And this is why I don't trade with people unless it's in person and I can look up the value of any and all cards being traded at the moment.

He says it was damaged while he was packaging it. I think he was trading cards he didn't physically have yet hoping he'd have it by the time we agreed to ship. I'm guessing that's what it was because we agreed to ship with tracking on a Monday, which I did, and I hadn't heard from him. Tuesday I asked if he shipped he said yes I'll get the tracking info to you when I get home. Didn't hear from him that night. Wednesday I demanded tracking info and he sent it later that day showing he shipped that day, 2 days after he said he did, he also already had my cards before he shipped. Fast forward to Saturday, the delivery day, he messages me saying he didn't send the foil strand because it was damaged, 2 hours later I received the package. Same day he says he has one on the way and he'll ship it to me asap. That was 10 days ago and the new strand is still "on its way" to him so after this Karn issue and the fact that I got irritated enough to just buy a foil strand of TCG, I asked him to send a replacement of something that he already has in possession. He agreed to work something out and send a foil misty rainforest or a revised dual or something else. Now it's just a waiting game to see if a replacement shows up. If not, I'll be plastering his name on every card forum I'm on and filing a report with his local PD. Idk what else I can do. I have screen shots of every conversation as well as videos of my opening packages from him (I record every package over $50 lol).

Sounds like a pretty slippery bastard to me. Get this done and then close the books on him. Warn your buddies and be done with him. Poor trade practices are NOT to be tolerated.

It's nothing new to him either I've found out. Another member messaged me and said his trade with this guy took 3 different packages and over a month until he received all the cards he should have had in one package and in less than a week. I'm definitely done with him once/if I get my cards. I'll give him the chance to make things right but I won't let him rip me off and get away with it.
Anyway, if anyone wants a HP foil karn you know where to find one!

Egh... I would really just ask for a trade back and if problems persist bring him to small claims court?

depending if it's HP or damaged and valuation i may be interested in the karn. I'm not opposed to playing beat up cards in EDH decks. Take a look at my binder and let me know if you see anything you'd like.

yea I mean Heavily played and damaged are way different. if it's just heavily played you probably could find someone who really doesn't care about the condition and get full value for it.
But again if you can get a trade back just do that.

To update you guys, the guy I got the Karn from is sending me new card's. He still owes me a FOIL Flooded strand from a previous trade and offered $40 trade value because of the Karn "misunderstanding". I'm sending him a playset of Bloodsoaked Champion, playset of Crackling Doom, 1 Dig Through Time and a playset of Soldier of the Pantheon. In return he's sending me 2 Revised Scrublands, 1 in SP condition and the other in SP-NM condition as replacement for the foil strand and karn issue. Not too bad of a deal, I wouldn't mind having another foil strand but oh well.

Well two Scrublands are worth more than a foil strand and the $40 value he's giving me because of the Karn issue. I'm waiting for the scrubs before I send cards out if that's what you mean.

Yeah, I don't think it's wise to send him more cards. Perhaps you can strike a deal where you don't send anything else out until you receive everything promised?

xzavierx and I came to a trade deal offline for the Karn Liberated. Assuming these scrubs show up I'm happy with the end result. Thanks for the trade Xzavierx.

I'd just send it back to the guy you bought it from, if you can. If that isn't possible, try to cut your losses and sell it. You may be able to get $45 or so for it.
