Foreign language cards

As a collector, I dig foreign language cards. I've seen some foreign language printings go for less, and some more. I've also seen a similar thread on this ages ago...

Anyway, I picked up an Italian Karakas in lightly played condition for $85.00. I've seen Karakas on the rise over time. Will the Italian version hold more or less value?

What's the consensus on other foreign language printings as far as long term value? I've noted Japanese printings on TCG player go for more.

Italian legends is normally cheaper then english, and has been that way as long as I can remember.

Well snap. I'm trying to tell myself I got a great deal lol. It was listed for $110.00...

I saw an Italian Chain Lightning at a local shop for $20-25. Then again, that particular LGS is known for their high prices.

What about German cards? Korean? Chinese? Portuguese? Spanish? (Not necessarily Legends, but generally in terms of worth)

Still a good deal. SCG has a slightly played one for 110. Just not quite as high as the English one. I only know that about Italian legends because I looked at getting some Thunder Spirit . Ended up getting 2 English, and 2 Italian.

Some go for more. That is very true. Someone else can give you better advice about that.

In my experience Russian and Korean cards are more valuable where as Chinese prints tend to be printed at a higher volume. There are exceptions tho, where older sets like tempest for example where Chinese versions of certain cards are much more expensive, so it comes to supply and demand with the age of the card not having been reprinted.

As a general rule foreign cards will hold a higher value than english. Yet, I'm still going to dish out the money for some Japanese or Korean cards because I love them haha.

Italian Legends was printed well after the English version was printed . I can't find print statistics but I am think there were more Italian language cards printed than English. When I was buying homelands and Alliances packs for $2.50, the cards store I went to sold Italian legends for $10 a pack and English packs for $30 each (1996 time frame).

In general, I'd have to agree that Russian and Korean cards fetch the most for foreign languages. I have a Russian Primeval Titan from a M12 pack and most people I've talked to agree that it's worth around $12-$15, which is way higher than the English price of $8 (note this was around September last year). With the Modern price spikes, I'd have to say it'd probably be closer to $25 right now with the English being at $18.
