Place to speculate which cards will spike, and what is the root cause of these drastic changes.
Rules:
-When speculating on a card, also give reasons why you feel they are a prospect. This can include reasons such as reserve list, format shift, new/updated decks.
-Post the tcg mid price at the time of the speculation, so we can have a future frame of reference. Jay's prediction for an example, Leyline of the Void(7.24)
-As this is a speculation thread remember to respect others. People will disagree, but that will lead to quality discussions.
saj0219 I know. IF "Legacy Lite" were to be a thing...

A there any thoughts on Mycosynth Lattice? With an artifacts block coming up I suspect it will make another rise in price.

Brooding Saurian is at $0.31 TCG Mid ($0.26 for the coldsnap printing). With Dubious Challenge coming out the card has been more or less "rediscovered". Given its use in EDH and now its combo potential in modern I would guess it at least gets up over $1 given how low of a print run Coldsnap got, and has potential to spike crazily like Allosaurus Rider did for a while, but with more staying power.

Has anyone noticed any increases on Etherium Sculptor or Chief Engineer with kaladesh coming?

Yes because of that red sorcery in kaladesh, forget the name. But once people see the combo isnt that great it will come back down.Sure if you pull said sorcery you can drain down an play emperion but then someone just uses the removal card in hand. Back to the drawing board lol.

Buyouts have returned for the reserve list and The Dark is being targeted, according to the weekly update (Aug 6) on mtggoldfish.
Rudy from Alpha Investments, see his recent vid, mentions the prices for the recent 2 large spikes ( Stone Calendar and Mana Vortex ) will not hold due to high print count of The Dark set. The cards however, will not return to their original prices.

So what's up with the huge amounts of buyouts centered around the new Commander decks? Prices are all sorts of wonky... Any insights? My theory is mass market manipulation.

I've heard Herald of Serra and Citanul Centaurs are fixing to spike... essentially because they've run out of Reserve List cards to buy out at this point.

So the new simic legend has been spoiled and its busted. It's a Birthing Pod with legs. So Thornbite Staff is gonna spike. That's easy to say. But I think all the search hate cards are gonna spike too because this card is that strong. I think the metta will shift because of this card. And search hate will be an answer to this card. So cards like Aven Mindcensor, and Stranglehold are gonna get a price spike.
