Gatecrash or RTR Box?

I have 90$ to spend on a sealed box, Ihowever I am interested in both RTR's promising Deathrite Shaman and Gatecrash's glorious Boros Reckoner , but basically I'm seeking trade bait for my binder. What set should I get?
I might skip the box buy the singles I want and turn around and buy the singles you want to trade for. Because buying a bboxlooking for singles is a huge gamble. But if you're intent on this, rtr has sphinxs rev, verdict, allied shocks and desecration demon to name a few. Gatecrash has less in terms of trade value.

I would buy singles, but I haven't bought anything sealed since gatecrash and wanted to buy one of the two considering how low they are right now. Thanks a lot guys!

I would say definitely RTR over gatecrash/dragons maze simply for the value. One big factor is the shocks (about 8-10$ each). The chance that you get one in RTR is much higher than the other two sets. For the most value though, singles would be the best. However if you enjoy cracking packs, i would go for RTR, and trade what you get for what you need.

Gatecrash really only has 3-4 good cards, and the rest being close to worthless/worth less than a pack. Luckily the one pack i did buy from it, i got a domri.

Both great sets for bait. Ravnica has the first set of shocklands, sphinx's rev, Vraska, deathrite shaman, and architect of thought, abrupt decay, desecration demon, rakdos's return as well. Where Gatecrash has the second set of shocklands, domri rade, ghost council, nightveil specter and the reckoner.

Drs is $13 and sees 0 standard play. Go rtr bc itll only go up, especially if he comes back to standard, and is huge trade bait since itll hold value vs reckoner who will drop post rotation

@aFriendlyAlly - i think the odds of shocklands are the same for gatecrash and rtr. 5 shocks in each out of 68 rares/mythics.
with that being said, i think rtr still has more value, with rtr high value cards (sphinx's rev, jace, deathrite, desecration demon) worth a bit more right now than gatecrash money rares (domri, reckoner, nightveil, obz)
also gatecrash kinda sucked to draft, if you were planning on getting value that way

Gatecrash is a terrible set. RTR is an amazing set. Very easy choice.

RtR is also out of print now. Definitely pick up as much as you can. Any staples are going to go up at this point until rotation.

@shuflw Yeah i just looked it up. I don't know where I read that. Maybe I got confused with the fact that dragons maze just has a lower odd to get the one you WANT, since theres 10 instead. Thanks for correcting me. But gatecrash/dragons maze still have ridiculously low average value rates for a box.

Though I want to make the argument here that we don't know the full impact born of the gods will have on gatecrash/dgm. I do think not much, but that may not be true. With the info we have now, rtr is the best.

I would go for RTR. RTR has Deathrite Shaman , Abrupt Decay and Sphinx's Revelation . I'm pretty sure there are more valuable cards but I can't remember them off the top of my head.
Oh right. Shock lands.

Huh. My playgroup pulled tons of shocks from Gatecrash, and I pulled 3 from 2 RTR boxes. Out of those two RTR boxes, I also pulled 4 Search the City where one was foil, 3 Guild Feud one foil. Haha I guess I just had a bad couple pulls, I did get 2 Deathrites and some other values (One or two Desecration Demon and a Vraska the Unseen ) but that was when they were not worth much.
Hopefully this next box will have something worthwhle

I'm getting a box of RTR for christmas from my parents, so hopefully I'll get good pulls. Keeping my fingers crossed for value to add some beef to my binder.

RTR, besides Deathrite Shaman it also has Supreme Verdict , Sphinx's Revelation and Jace, Architect of Thought

Go with RTR. More money is in it. And a few of the cards are pretty sweet in eternal formats.
