So I'm collecting all angels, and since I already have prerelease promo Bruna, the Fading Light I would like a promo Gisela too. However, that card is stupid expensive right now. My estimation is that she'll be pretty good in standard, but not great for older formats that have access to Baneslayer Angel for just one more mana.

So. What do people see her settling to? My plan right now is to wait for her to settle after the release hype dies down. Is she going to stay that high (or go higher) for standard? Is she going to drop significantly after she rotates?

Yeah, she is gonna go down. Promos usually run about the foil price, maybe a buck or two more, but I would wait, unless it is a priority for you. I am sorta doing the same thing on a Hanweir Garrison promo, as I got the Hanweir Battlements as a prerelease promo. Having both would be nice (as it is stamped with my birthdate on it) but not something I am gonna pay a mint for. I'd do the same on your end.

I wouldnt be so sure about her going down anytime soon. She is damn near format breaking in standard as she is incredibly undercosted for as powerful as she is. As for older formats, 4 mana in modern is a big deal vs. 5 mana. Baneslayer is a good card but gisela is just crazy.

The only problem is Standard. Due to white being so good, Gisela will be a high price just because she is standard legal, I would wait until it rotated out. But if you can't wait to see a fresh foily Gis, I can't blame you.

DrLitebur - Uhh.... promos 9/10 run cheaper than pack foils.

They have to be highly exclusive promos to be worth more than a pack foil, usually involving alternate art. Any form of pre-release promo usually runs notably cheaper than a pack foil. Typically at least a few dollars difference, more notably five ish dollars less or ten less if the cards worth a lot to start.

FNM Promos don't even spike to be worth that much. Anything just plain handed out in mass to people doesn't keep value just because it's a "promo."

Sad truth of Magic. Hang on to those promos for like... five or six years, then you have a different story.

This message brought to you buy somebody who sells Magic cards for a 1/4th of a living.

She's going to drop significantly, just look at any other prerelease promo in more recent sets. Just hold off until after AEther revolt is released imo. Also in regards to seuvius new Gisela wouldn't last in modern when >40% of decks are running bolt

She will drop to like 14 within a month or two after people realize (most pros already have) that shes really not that good. Yes shes powerful but she dies to everything gets bounced and out tempo-ed by so many powerful standard cards taht she just wont be able to impact the board in a competitive meta.
