So I did really well at my prerelease this weekend and won 9 packs. There were some leftover prerelease boxes, so I took a red box and two normal packs. I see the Piledriver with a date stamp at the front of my seeded pack.

Hold onto it and see if modern goblins becomes a thing and sell it later, or move it now?

Why does modern goblins have to become a thing for you to hold onto it?

Why do you think modern goblins isn't already a thing?

1: Modern Goblins is a thing. Check the increased prices of Goblin cards like Legion Loyalist, Goblin Guide, AEther Vial, Goblin Rabblemaster, Warren Instigator, Blood Moon, Goblin King, Goblin Grenade, and Cavern of Souls. Hold on to it.

The general consensus of people at my lgs was "hold on to it, see if goblins becomes a thing in modern". I have no clue about modern (except for the big value cards), so I was under the assumption that it wasn't huge.

I am most likely going to hold on to it since I plan on mono red to get back into standard potentially.

well I mean it's a reprint of a card with proven legacy value. It's price isn't as high as it is completely out of speculation because people already know what the card is capable of so it's not like it's going to suddenly plummet in price. Even if goblins doesn't catch on in any other format and it's only useful in legacy it'll still maintain it's high value and slowly rise because it's a foil. Now if modern goblins gets super huge and wins a lot then that could cause it's price to spike. All the new copies entering the market will all get picked up immediately because it was already a card that was harder to get so these will be the most available. Depending on how good goblins ends up being it could be the next $50 dollar card in modern. Like I said, there wasn't a bunch already flooding the market before and anyone deck that plays it in modern is going to want 4,so they will get picked up fast. And they'll probably get stashed away by anyone else not playing goblins if it has legacy and modern appeal, because that means it's value can only go up.

Anyways, you just made it sound like you thought the card would plummet in price if modern goblins didn't become a thing. That's why I asked that. I just kinda wanted to point out that the card already had value elsewhere before it got reprinted.
