He was the god card when I got back into magic, mostly because of his epic dragonness, but really I haven't seen him played anywhere too relevant. Why is he still like $7? I was going to grab one of him for nostalgia purposes but at $7 it doesn't seem worth it. Hes basically reanimate or bust, and even then you hope you have the mana to pay for the regenerate/fire breathing. Is he played in something particularly good that is making him hold that value or are other people just holding onto him for the same reason I want him? Hellkite Overlord
He's epic for a casual, and he's really not that bad either. Too mana pricy to see serious play but the combination of haste, flying, and regenerate make him SEEM playable.

Not to mention that he's a great finisher in specific Jund EDHs (namely Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund).

Yeah I'd imagine he goes in a lot of Jund EDH decks, like JA14732 said, they enjoy their big creatures especially when their commander is a dragon.

Yea I guess that was the answer I was expecting. I always realize he wasn't "good" per-say, but like you guy said I figured he ws probably played in a dragon EDH deck with Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund and MAYBE some modern reanimator deck somewhere, even though their are better choices to reanimate. Just very strange how high he is almost exclusively from casual play.

Yeah, I don't see this guy replacing Griselbrand as the top reanimation target. My inner Timmy likes the idea of it though.

For me at least, he is one of the cards that relates to Baneslayer Angel. It's stats are great, but doesn't have much of a place anywhere. By the way, if you do get him, commission him for altering. It looks so FU**Ing badass.

Nope. People want him for the same reasons you do. Dragons and Hydras are a casual's best friend.
