So its just as I said in the title. Someone I know is selling 6 thousand magic cards from the first 4 sets. I don't know the condition of them or what he has. So I could use some help. First, should I? Second what cards should I try to keep an eye out for and third, what should my concerns be? Thanks! !

Do it. Even if half of them are basic lands, you've made your money back on them alone. Almost all cards from A/B are worth a little bit, even if only as collector's trinkets.
Just look for anything worth anything. I'd honestly alphabetize it and go through card-by-card for values to make sure you don't miss anything. Sometimes ABUR surprises you with random gems. Hopefully Mox gems.

How can I tell if it's alpha, beta, ect? Cause they don't have symbols right?

Check the corners of the alpha cards. Alpha cards have straighter corners while every other cards have rounded corners.

alpha have more rounded corners than the regular cards, beta are cut like todays cards. alpha and beta (and unlimited) do not have dates.

Straight corners are the collectors edition (with the gold border on the back of the card).

One thing I've noticed that no one has asked, are they real? There's been a lot of counterfeit cards going around and people are selling them for only a few hundred bucks. And they look legitimate too. Make sure they're real.

The bend test is an easy way to find out. Or a black light.

You can price them all at TCG Player.com or Starcitygames.com , no offense but this seems like bullsh?%. You know about alpha and beta and T.O and you don't know if 200.00 for 6,000 alpha and beta cards is a good deal? How did you find this site?

Nobody would make thousands of counterfeits and only sell them for a few hundred. They're not particularly easy to make so the only cards that are actually counterfeited are high end modern/legacy staples that can be moved by the playset for a lot of money.
