I like the idea of investing money in a card in the hopes it shoots up in value. It's like the thrill of opening packs, but with a potentially greater reward. I picked Herald of Torment to do it with. Bought 36 copies. I can see it played in mono-black where the life loss would be irrelevant alongside the merchant. It also has the devotion that helped bring Desecration Demon into the deck. I could see it replacing Nightveil Specter .

If it ends up not being worth anything... well then I collect Herald of Torment s. haha.

Nice! I did something similar with Skylasher ... Hopefully your works out better than mine did haha

I think it is a solid card on its own, but it isnt too bad as bestow either. I would say youll at least make your money back

@Ohthenoises - I love the Firedancer. Maybe him and Guttersnipe will be buddies in a Mono R burn deck...

at almerican that one dude put together a cool flash deck with it. There just aren't enough good flash creatures right now. I personally really like Horizon Chimera , Boon Satyr and Skylasher , but Shambleshark , and Briarpack Alpha are kind of just fillin the slots. If there was a five drop flash simic dude that was intimidating, I think simic would be a thing.

I myself am hoping to invest in Spirit of the Labyrinth due to its potential in eternal formats. I do think however that all the cards released will drop in price after release, that will be my time to buy.

If I had the money (story of a broke college kid), I'd totally preorder as many pain seers I could get my dirty little hands on. I have a feeling he's gonna shoot up more than just fifteen a piece. (The price may have changed since when I last looked).

I would put my money (If I had extra to spare) into Satyr Firedancer and Spirit of the Labyrinth .

Satyr Firedancer is going to be played in a number of R/W decks, just for it's synergy with Boros Charm . The only thing that made it not "completely OP" was that the 4 damage was to player only... now that its can be to player AND creature (or multiple if you have more of this guy out), it's a no-brainer. - It also has a number of Modern decks that it may see slots in.

Spirit of the Labyrinth is going to fit into a number of decks in all formats it can fit in. It may only be side-board, and may not be a 4-of... but it will be used.

Aside from those, I don't see a lot of high value cards... there are some that may go up in a few years time, due to becoming staples of EDH... but they would have to be out of print for a while before that happens. - Plea for Guidance , the Archetype creatures, Astral Cornucopia , some of the Gods, possibly the Scry lands. - I could even see Perplexing Chimera being combined with Homeward Path .

This is a risky endeavor, but it could work. For all intensive purposes you are still down. 33% just about covers the trade in "fee". Got a bit to go to be able to get even cash from a store. That is because it is not really a card that moves itself yet. If it goes up to 8-10 bucks, then people will be searching it out.

This could be a best option come rotation. I could see a black devotion with a small splash of red for the god or something like that. I think 6-8 bucks could be about right. If that is the case, you just did pretty well.
