$5? $10? $20? $100?!!?!
It depends on who's hosting it, their supplier, and the local economy. My LGS here in Illinois runs six events over the course of Pre-Release weekend. One of them is Two Headed Giant. Every event's entry cost is $20 per person.
You just have to contact your nearest WPN registered location and see what their entry cost is.

we have either $25 or $30 around here--including one place that lets you choose to pay $30 instead of $25 for 2 packs of the older set.

On average, you should expect to spend right about $40 on a prerelease. Usually like $30 to get in, then food and gas as well on the day. Might be more for some packs or intro decks if your LGS sells them the day of. The events go pretty long, which is why I include a food cost.

My place is great. $20 per person with good prize support.

locally here it is 30-40. One place that I paid for an entry into was running a promotion where you paid $40 to play and you get a fat pack upon release of the set. So I am going there for that one, and I paid 30 for the store I usually play FNM at.

Around my area, (CO) there are two stores I go to. One charges 25$ and the other 30$. Allthough I hate the 25$ one. The prize is $1 of in store credit per win. I'd rather have a pack.

$25 here in PA as well (with fantastic prize pack support).
I'd bring a snack and a bottle of water at least too.

$25 in my LGS (NorCal area) for the prerelease pack, a few booster raffles, 3-5 hours of MGT entertainment, and scaling booster prizes for those who do good.

Here in New Jersey it's $20 per person with a really good prize pool and pity packs. I might go hug the guys who run the event now that I realize how expensive other stores are

Dang.
So apparently my shop runs Pre-Release really cheap.
Got it.

Some places also give discounts for more events you attend. All the shops in my area do midnight release on Friday, sealed on Saturday, and 2HG/more sealed/draft on Sunday.
Generally, they cost $25 for the first sealed event you attend, and ~$20 for each one after. One of the stores does catering for Saturday and it's like $50 for Friday/Saturday with lunch buffet from Subway or a local teriyaki restaurant.
