I don't get Surrak, the Hunt Caller!!!!!

He is played in most green decks, either sideboard or main board, and in the numbers of 1-4 so why, oh why gods of magic does he costs a mere $1.00 while Den Protector is sitting at a comfortable $7.00 ??

because he isnt played in most green decks not that I am aware of at all. He is only played in green aggressive decks. DEN PROTECTOR however is played in actually every green deck midrange aggro and control

He's a bomb in green aggro due to being able to turn swinging with one creature into swinging with 3 out of nowhere.

Den Protector is far more commonly seen in decks. Besides, the difference a 4-of in every deck and a 2-of in some decks is huge.
