Okay first to get no hopes up its nothing to fancy here just I was looking at my binder and saw a foil Humble Defector looked at the price and saw 7 bucks. Why is it worth anything and who wants one? lol

He saw some play in the Top tier of the top tiers deck Splinter Twin combo deck :P
People are flocking to it. I'm bad at economics so i have no advice on what to do with that though.

oh god it was played in modern and made it in the top 8...A it is used often and prices spike , B its used to often and gets banned C nothing happens ever and I should sell it now while there is some hype. those my choices guys?

I pulled one myself around the time of Pro Tour. After the grand finals it was sitting at around $12 though.
My personal recommendation would be to hold on to it. It's a pretty crazy card given its extremely unique ability. Who knows if it has the potential to see Legacy/Vintage play as well. At $7 you wouldn't be losing too much if it depreciates, but you'll definitely regret it now if you sold it and it jumps up to $20 (I'd say it's unlikely for that, at least until it's out of print).

Personally (take this with a grain of salt) i would drop it while it's hyped. He has some neat interactions with the deck but idk how long people are going to care

@Death_The_Kid: Cards like Humble Defector will never be banned in Modern.

The card was played in one twin list at the pro tour that didn't do well... It was on camera for a little while so the price of the card went up a bit but I'm 100% sure that it will never see competitive play again.

Meanwhile, my Become Immense just jumped to $7.30 mid price...

But that card is actually good so it probably is going to hold its price

I play Humble Defector in my Jeskai Ascendancy storm deck. it is actually quite good. other than that, though, I don't think it will see much play in the future

It is a perfect rogue brew-around card so as well as seeing fringe play in modern it is almost casual gold.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you can use defector, trigger of "opponent gets control" goes on the stack, cast an instant, let both triggers from Ascendancy resolve and then use it again before the first "opponent gets control" trigger resolves, right? This is pretty insane!

exactly, Putrefy. you can do that, or even just untap it with Fatestitcher. in playtesting, I was able to draw 20 cards off of him. he basically guarantees that you don't fizzle.

u dont get to draw before ur opponent gets control of it but u can just keep jeskai ascendancy and fatestitchering it and then ur opponent gains control of it and you draw 8 million cards

yes. you tap to activate. hold priority. untap through ascendancy or stitcher, then tap again. rinse and repeat as many times as you can. then when you cant untap him any more, you let your opponent gain control of him and you draw half your deck. so long as you have some mana floating, you can guarantee that you continue storming off

So I guess I shall onto this guy for a while just to see what happens. If he drops price its not that big of a deal if he grows then sweet lol.

I think people like it for tiny leaders? you can do combos with it and draw cards
