Collected Company F was $26 when GP Charlotte ended on 6/14. I traded it away that day and it rose to $50 the next day. Damn it.

I traded a foil Gray Merchant of Asphodel at Theros prerelease when it was like 50 cents. I think at one point it was up to about 10 dollars, or maybe more. I was so mad. I did not see how good that card was at first. Worst part was, I played MBD for most of Theros through M15, and Gary was my best friend in that deck.

Oof.. I know that feel, just traded a planeshift Terminate foil the day before it jumped from $3-$4 up to $40-$50

A friend of mine gave away a foil Courser to a stranger right when it came out and no one knew how popular it would become :)

I got a foil Noble Hierarch when I was 13 or 14 (when Conflux came out) and I never knew it was worth anything and when I was 16 I sold it for like $50 and now it is $100 and I feel terrible every time I think about it.

I'm having the opposite feels right now, not to rub it in. I bought my playset of CoCo on EBay for a mere $15 a few months ago ... look at the price now. But I have had my share of bad trades in the past though, so I've been there too.

that fucking sucks. I needed one for my EDH deck, and I was having a hard enough time getting one at 10 bucks.

I traded a Snappie for 2 Legion Loyalist and 2 Frontline Medic back when I started. That was my worst trade ever, and I don't think it's going to get any worst than that.

I was going to trade my foil Collected Company a few weeks ago, but after asking the community here what I should do with it, I kept it. Now I'm happy I did, as I think I'll be trading it soon. I got it back when the foil was $13, it was a good idea to pick it up back then.

i just traded a playset of non foil Collected Companys for $13 a piece,do you guys think that was a smart move?
June 21, 2015 7:34 p.m.
It was probably fine, they're probably gonna be stable. I wish I could've gotten them though.

I feel like I've been pretty lucky. Bought siege rhino foils at 6 dollars a few weeks after release, sold at $20. Bought a foil noble hierarch for $24 dollars off of ebay last week. Bought a set of kolaghan command foils at $5 each, four weeks ago. Bought like ten den protectors at two dollars each at pre-release. Bought three Chalice of the Void's for $26 dollars at GP Providence last night.

I pulled the Collected Company F from a $4 pack so any trade was going to be good. It was just a shocker when I looked at my pending trades and it's a $49.97 card out of nowhere.

Company is like birthing pod and snapcaster mage. It's as good as the cards surrounding it, and it will only get better.

My worst trade: when I first started, I drafted theros to oblivion, but when I only had a few rares this guy askes me to trade, and I say sure. Turns out I had a Thoughtseize(about 15ish at the time) Luckily the guy tells me how much it's worth and also mentions people ripping off new kids. So I traded it for a bunch of random stuff I don't even remember, maybe a foreign Goblin Diplomats
My best trade: Pulled Narset Transcendent at the prerelease. She was 35$ then. Traded her (to a guy who had tons of modern stuff so I don't feel bad) for 2 Polluted Deltas a Bloodstained Mire and an Underworld Cerberus(1$ card to even it out)
I have a habit of trading away cards I end up using later haha, so I'm more careful now

I just traded 2x Creeping Tar Pit a few months ago at like 8$ a pop and then they jumped to 20$. I was a little mad, but it was to a friend, so i wasnt too worried about it. We have all made some derpy trades along the way.

Back before Commander started getting popular...traded away Meddling Mage foil ($3 at the time, later went to $20+). Also Eye of Ugin for a Wolfir Silverheart when both were around $3. Ugin jumped to $8 the next week.
Happened to pull Sorin, Solemn Visitor at prerelease and thought "Most Planeswalkers depreciate substantially after the hype dies down" so traded him away ($15 at the time). On Monday, he jumped to $25 as people realized he was better that expected lol.

when Reflecting Pool was printed for the 2nd time, a guy wanted a playset so bad for his Standard deck. My buddy had a playset and looked through this guys binder. Jokingly he goes, "I'll give you my playset of Pools for your Tropical Island" Guy jumped on it.
He must be kicking himself now, hahahaha.

Just got the cards in the mail today from the Collected Company F trade. The guy sent his end out 4 days late and used a $2.50 bubble mailer so he damn well knew it was a $50 card when he mailed his end. Not to throw him under the bus or anything, but if I was in his shoes, I'd have contacted me with this new card price information and proceeded from there.

I'm sorry that you're unsatisfied with our trade.
I'm also sorry that I mailed the cards slowly; you may be more understanding if you knew that I'm a medical student who has an insane schedule and who struggles to get to a post office in a timely manner.
I actually just learned of the foil's spike a couple days ago. I initiated and completed the trade with no insider knowledge or anything. I just like to collect foils of my favorite cards.
Prior to reading this post I was going to reach out to you to add in something that would even out the new discrepancy. If I were in your shoes, I'd hesitate to make cynical assumptions.

Dude, the feels. All the dumb things I've done since I started Magic; Traded away my first mythic from my first pack, Blightsteel Colossus, for a duel deck Ajani Vengeant and 23 Plains. Pft... It was a good deal at the time... I gave away two Collected Company to a friend... I traded a Sylvan Caryatid and a Fleecemane Lion for a Ruric Thar, the Unbowed and a Pyxis of Pandemonium... I gave away a Stormbreath Dragon... I lost a foil Ephara, God of the Polis... And I managed to slightly damage my Cavern of Souls and my Thoughtseize BEFORE I realized they were expensive. I'm smart sometimes. I also bought 40 Shukos for my combo deck... That was fun... Anyone need a couple? Nah I'm joking, I eventually got rid of them.
