Hello all,
It's tax return time and my local card shop has an Innistrad booster box or two. Theyre willing to sell it to me for $310 and I'm wondering if it's worth it.
ThanksI would probably draft once or twice but my real interest is pulling value or just misc. Foils.

Personally, I love innistrad. Hence my username and my cube. However, I would pass on the box of Innistrad and spend that money on a box of Eternal Masters.

What is average price for standard booster boxes? If spoilers are good, I might just get a box of SOI

You can get a Shadows Over Innistrad box for $90 pre-ordered. However, standard is not a good investment. Unless Liliana of the Veil gets a reprint.

Wht do you mean standard is not a good investment? I do not play standard, only edh, FYI. But Innistrad was my starting set and so the style and flip cards are nostolgicly. As such SOI might fill the place.

I think you should wait till spoilers really get kickin before you make a purchase. If the spoilers are crap then I suggest Eternal Masters booster box for value

they don't reprint planeswalkers apart from core sets do they? And core sets are no more, the same way that legendary creatures don't get reprinted, they get different cards. Like Avacyn, Linvala etc

If Liliana gets a reprint it would more likely be in Eternal masters, same goes for Snap and Dack. With that said I am hoping for a Jace in black maybe!?!

Standard isn't a good investment because the value of cards goes down really quick, as we saw with Oath of the Gatewatch

I Agree as soon as everyone gets to crackin packs and opens what they want the price deflates quick.

Getting up to $310 worth of cards from an innistrad box would probably be pretty difficult. Even if you get a good box with both a Liliana of the Veil and a Snapcaster Mage you've made only just over half your money back. There's always the chance of getting really lucky and pulling foils, but the chances aren't very good. So as far as value goes it's probably not worth it, but then again buying singles is usually more worth it and we all still buy boxes anyway. I guess opening packs is just more fun. Opening Liliana is more satisfying then buying the card for sure. That's just my opinion though.
