Inquisition of Kok vs Thoughtseize

Why is Inquisition of Kozilek a $7 card and Thoughtseize is a $20+ card (more for the original printing)? I mean...I get that Thoughtseize hits more stuff overall, but isn't that not as huge an issue in more eternal formats? The average cmc is way low! My real question, I guess, is why is Inquisition not worth more? It hit 90% of what is played in eternal...

Also, I'm moving this to Economics because it's a discussion about value and not about viability.

Only reason I could think of would be overall availability? Inquisition of Kozilek is Uncommon whereas Thoughtseize (both times) was printed at Rare.

Gotcha, I never even realized that Inquisition was only uncommon. I would say its a very powerful uncommon with the cmc we see in competitive Modern and Legacy. Thank you, as always, Epoch

Also, Inquisition of Kozilek doesn't hit tron at all and most other decks. SOME decks have a low curve but affinity has Frogmite , Tron has, well, almost everything, Jund has Ajani Vengeant , Melira pod has a lot as well. The point I'm making is that it doesn't hit the IMPORTANT things in the meta, just some of them.

here is another post on the topic
this one also has some decent info (mixed in with ramblings as per t/o usual)
[and another, but iok vs dureess](https://tappedout.net/mtg-forum/modern/inquisition-or-duress/
And the answer is just that Thoughtseize is the better card and is played more than Inquisition of Kozilek in addition to the uncommon/rate situation.

I agree they are very similar, but thoughtseize being able to hit Splinter Twin , Birthing Pod , any eldrazi/norn in tron is a pretty strong arguement for its 2-3x value.

Thoughtseize hits everything. Every nonland card that could possibly be in the target player's hand. Inquisition of Kozilek doesn't have that kind of power.
Additionally, Inquisition of Kozilek is an uncommon from a more recent set. Thoughtseize was a rare from an older set, and it was only just reprinted (still as a rare).
