Now that my collection is actually worth some money (~$1000+ US). What is the best way to go about insuring it? Is it even possible? And if you have, can you guys give me some advice on the best way to go about insuring them?

Thanks in Advance

I looked this up earlier this week. If you're in the military, USAA will insure it, I think. My memory is a bit murky since it was late. Most insurance companies probably won't. My collection is $4k+, and I don't have it insured. I know some guy got his insured but he had the Power 9 and whatnot and was able to get them insured. He has to keep them updated with pictures and whatnot of the cards, though. Not sure where I read this as I was half asleep.

Insuring a $1000 collection? Seems like a waste. You have no need for insurance if you take good care of your stuff.

I've often wondered this as well. Be interesting to see what, if any choices we may have.

Yeah, insuring a collection at $1000 isn't a good use of money. There are some guys at my store with a $10000+ collection and don't have insurance as far as I know. There is one guy with anywhere from 250 to 350 copies of Snapcaster Mage. I know he doesn't have them insured. They're sitting in his basement in a safe so I guess that counts.

Might be worth filing them under homeowner's insurance or renter's insurance.

Not sure how it works if it's lost out of house vs stolen inside the house. Just claim they were burglarized

I guess I'm still asking why bother insuring $1000 of property. You don't insure your laptop, do you? Or your wardrobe?

Yeah this would fall under Homeowner/Renter's insurance along with your TV and computer and stuff.

I would say don't go looking for personal insurance.
