Is Deathrite still investible?

How investible is Deathrite Shaman after its modern ban? I think it sees play in legacy, but will it go enough to be worth it? (Clearly if it gets unbanned it will be- chances of this?)

I say, "get 'em while they're cheap." I find it difficult to believe they'll be banned forever in the format. When they eventually unban him, his price will go through the roof.

I need a playset for a Standard deck so I'm getting them now, but I think I'll get a few more during rotation. How much do you think he would be if he were unbanned?

It depends on when he would become unbanned. If it happens next year he won't rise a ton. If it happens a few years from now, his price could skyrocket just like Bitterblossom 's did. But I'm not sure I would rely on him being unbanned. It may not ever happen. I'm still waiting for them to unban a few cards I've been holding since Ravnica, like Golgari Grave-Troll , which has no reason to be banned anymore but still is.

It's the best one-drop creature ever printed and is played in every format where he is legal. His use in Legacy alone will put him at $30+ in a few years. Just because Stoneforge Mystic and Jace, the Mind Sculptor are banned in Modern doesn't mean their price went down the drain.

I agree with everything that's been stated.
Other formats will retain his value. I imagine once RTR is completely out of print it will start to climb quite a bit. Once unbanned in modern & still OOP I'm sure he'll skyrocket. In several years probably to original Thoughtseize prices, as more decks want to play DRS than Thoughtseize .
Personally I think he makes Modern as a whole so much more fun to play. lol if he doesn't get unbanned, I'm going to start scouring the net for bring back DRS petitions to sign. lol

@APPLE01DOJ: If you start a White House petition, I will sign it.

I will sign that petition as well. Modern needs its DRS back :/

Do you mean long term? Probably. If you're looking to invest in him, wait until rotation. He'll drop a few bucks as all the standard players try to get rid of him. He should see enough legacy play to slowly drive him back up. I'm not sure he'll go past the $15-20 range in the next couple years, but he'll definitely rise back up a little.
