Is it worth it to buy Mana Drain?

I have a Thassa EDH deck and a GAA4 EDH deck. Would it be wise to purchase mana drain or is it a waste of $. I could get 2 of them for $225 but I don't know if they will decrease/increase in price.

Has anybody used the card in EDH before and found it useful?

If you can get 2 Mana Drain for $225 and you don't, there is something seriously wrong with that situation. Jump on it.

GAA4?

The price that you just mentioned is very similar to, "Buy one get one free". I would do it if you have the money to pull it off.

Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, for those who don't know.

Do you need a Mana Drain? Can you afford a Mana Drain? If both of these questions are a yes, you buy a mana drain.

Might get a reprint in Eternal Masters is the only reason to say no. Assuming the condition of the drains is good and you could afford to buy them, it seems like a good deal.

canterlotguardian, I don't know how much they go for. That is why I asked.

DevoidMage, For my Thassa deck, it would be VERY helpful. For my Grand Arbiter Augustin IV deck, it would be ok. I could always trade/sell the second one if necessary. The reason I'm a bit hesitant is because of dropping over $200 for 2 cards, you know?

Servo_Token says... #8

But you're paying 200 for 400 worth of cards, which makes it infinitely worth it.

DevoidMage Are 2 mana drains really worth $400? Could you show me your source so I could be better informed for the future?

225 for 2 Mana Drain is insane - unless they're in a damaged state (in which case they probably wouldn't be sleeve-playable) or something. If they're good condition and you don't get them... let me know and I will, k? ;)

They're $200 each, according to TCGplayer mid prices.

I only buy cards like Mana Drain from retailers or a very well known trader. It's much to easy to accidentally buy a fake, and $200 for $400 in cards seems a bit odd to me. I would be cautious. Request scans, maybe have them sent to a third party that you trust who can verify. If you can afford it, I guess go for it.

maiden77 MaRo has explicitly said that Mana Drain will only see a reprint if the entire R&D section is hit by a bus. It's not happening. lol

I think the not reprint thing was meant as a reprint in a normal set. It will never be stardard or modern playable in other words. As there is now a judge promo mana drain.

alulien, the seller on ebay says it is Light Play. It would have been $260 initially, but I haggled him down to $225.

DrFunk27 Since I'm buying it off of ebay, I usually have buyer's protection. But I will definitely need to keep that in mind. I just asked for scans.

canterlotguardian I have high standards though. If you can make an MTG joke funnier than below, I will consider your cheap date offer :P

Rihanna: "Oh nah nah, what's my name"

Me: "Oh Mana, Mana drain"

DrFunk27 ah right lol, good to know. Its only really played in competitive EDH and vintage though so a reprint would really not change much apart from they could get cheaper foils. Seens as its Eternal Masters it seems a shame not to reprint it. Maybe next time! haha

What do you call it when an Elf goes to get her drivers' license reinstated? Nissa's Renewal.

Sorry that was probably horrendous.

Plasm Capture certainly has its uses in EDH, so I'd have to imagine that Mana Drain is only infinitely better.

That, and it's a strictly-better Counterspell.

However, the fact that you are spending over $100 just so you don't have to swap one card out of a deck makes the logical part of my brain melt.

It's not that great of a deal if they're Italian. Italian Drains are worth a lot less than English Drains. Like, somewhere around $100-130 compared to $170-200.
