Jace vs Vraska

Does anyone think that the March release of the Jace vs Vraska duel decks will dramatically increase the value of jace-architext-of-thought?

I'd like to deflect the first obvious piece of criticism here and say this is all assuming that he stays a 3-4 of staple in some of the top tier decks by that time.

also, is anyone as disappointed with the spoiled Jace art for these decks as I am? He looks more like he is on his way to water-polo practice...total bro.

all value aside, Jace, the Mind Sculptor ftw (for the win, not the other ftw (still can't believe he's a thing)

and jace's value will probably go down, since anyone can easily get him

Why would more copies of Jace AoT in the secondary market make the price to UP? Let alone dramatically up?

Yeah, it'll basically be "Buy Jace, get Vraska and a bunch of other cool stuff free". It won't make it a bad card all of a sudden, so it'll maintain most of its value. But it should drop some. So once you see his price start to dip as the decks approach release, I'd trade them for concrete value. Then trade for them later at their lower price. I can't say how drastically low it'll go, but since Duel Decks are $20, it puts a firm ceiling on his value.

I doubt the duel deck will be at $20. It'll go much higher. Jace is around $25 right now, and a foiled one, even with admittedly subpar art, will raise the price. My store is pretty expensive, and I'll probably call ahead to see how much they'll be going for.

like others have said, more of the card available makes the card go down in price. Also if you look at other Duel Deck Planeswalker cards, they have gone down in price when they come out for the reason mentioned above. And yes the artwork is not as good. Although I do like the concept, the artwork for both planeswalkers is tied together. Vraska is kind of hiding in the shadows and Jace seems to be glaring at her as he walks by. However, Jace himself just looks sort of off. Maybe its the hair? Maybe he gained a few pounds? I dont know.

More of the card available doesn't -always- make the price go down (See Goyfs after MM) but that's a special case to which Jace AoT utterly doesn't apply.

AkromaPhage6, it's definitely the hair. Also, his posture says "i'm a bitch". It's just a lousy rendering of Jace.

I can't wait til this duel decks is released. Although the art sucks, the fact that you get both is amazing.

It will be 20 dollars. Walmart and Target stock Duel Decks and sell them at MSRP.

I don't understand why everyone hates the art, and is bashing the artist across the internet. I'm not a fan of Jace, so maybe that's it but the art is good. I think the art matches his persona of, "He has a reserved and decadent nature and a troubled conscience for the poor decisions he has made in the past," more so than the other arts, but the other arts look better regardless. But I do agree that I don't see why the price would shift any way but down.

Tarmogoyf and Dark Confidant got reprinted at Mythic Rare in an already relatively small print set, meaning that while there are more available, not all that many more and they are difficult to pull from Modern Masters. Cards at Rare and below in Modern Masters did actually drop in price.

Yes the artwork isn't fantastic. The real problem is that Jace is Magic's poster boy. Meaning that anything less than epic is considered poor. Look at the Jace, Memory Adept artwork. That got critiqued for being too Anime-esque. Also it looks like he needs approximately 6 cans of gel to keep his hair like that. The previous Jace vs. Chandra Duel Deck art got critiqued as well. At a quick glance he appears not to have arms. The art doesn't look like Jace really at all. If they had not put Jace up on a pedestal in the first place, no one would really have cared about the artwork.

I probably will pick up the duel deck when it comes out. Jace, Architect of Thought is still good. And i've been a fan of Vraska since she was previewed. Although I'm not sure why.

Don't worry, I've been a fan of Vraska since I started playing, but I see what you're saying. I'll definitely be picking one up

just looked up the art for the new jace, im not saying its bad, but it doesn't look like your typical jace, @capriom85, yes, bad rendering

(but on a seperate note it is super bad)
