So I traded my expedition Wooded Foothills and a Gideon, Ally of Zendikar for a playset of fetchlands. Good trade in the long run?

The moment they get reprinted, they will plummet.

Yes and no.

The Wooded Foothills expedition may go up in the long run, but Gideon, Ally of Zendikar will definitely go down after rotation.

Marsh Flats will remain near its current price until it is reprinted, when it (and all other fetches) will drop again, similarly to how they did after they were spoiled in KTK.

So until they get reprinted, you have gained, but once they are reprinted you will definitely have lost. The only question here is how long until that reprint.

I would certainly not be unhappy with that trade. Getting value out of Gideon is an excellent move atm, as he will probably lose 25 bucks post-rotation. Wooded foothills will likely go up, though I can't imagine all that much, as it isn't a primarily sought-after fetch (unlike say, for example, polluted delta/scalding tarn).

Even if Marsh Flats does get reprinted, you'll still have your set. If you needed them for a deck, I would say you won out... and that's assuming they get reprinted at all in the near future, which may or may not happen.

I'd say that you made a good trade. You pretty much traded a fetchland (albeit, a fancy and shiny one) and an over-valued standard card for a set of fetches. Given the opportunity, I'd have made that trade too, especially since I don't own any Marsh Flats.

Yeah I needed them for my modern tokens deck.

The original printings won't drop a whole lot if they get reprinted - onslaught Polluted Delta is still $40

I think you made an awesome trade

Well, I mean, the Onslaught Polluted Delta was $83 before Khans spoilers came out. I don't know about you, but I'd call that a notable drop.

That's true - but the demand will always be there.

Gideon is also not going anywhere so it's not like you lost money on that one

Congratulations! Looks like a great trade to me. Glad you'll be able to improve your token deck now as well.

Yeah I'm super excited to see how my deck does now that I've got fetchlands in it!

even though they may drop, they will remain more valuable than new prints (apart from special prints) and they will apreciate faster than new prints too. Plus, the use you can get from them until the reprint, probably more than makes up for the lost in value at any one time IMO. That, or you can sell them for profit now :-)
