Hey guys,

Just got two Theros boosters as an early xmas gift. Opened both, and they both had an Elspeth. What to do? Sell 1 and keep one or sell both or keep both? I am currently playing a green-blue modern deck so I don't see any use in them for now.

Sell em both unless you want one for EDH or something.

Hold on to them for a minute, she's at a low of 16-17$, this is her lowest since she was released. Her peak was 30$ and that was when not many as people playing U/W or Esper control as mono-black and mono-blue devotion. She'll be in standard for another 18 months give or take, you should be able to get closer to 30 in that time. Right now is just a slow period. If she doesn't hit above 25$ by june, consider dumping then.

Thanks for the info. Will keep them until further notice. If not, taking ChiefBell's course of action or I'll pawn them off to kids at my school.

I'd listen to gufymike in this situation. I haven't been keeping tabs on standard very well recently, so I didn't know she was so low. But one thing is for sure, don't be holding onto them after the summer of 2015. Shes unplayable outside of standard, so she'll start dropping around then.

Run them, I win off the back of resolved elspeth all day.

One of the most underestimated cards in the set... She's incredible once she's on the field, and runs smoothly alongside Parallel Lives , Doubling Season , Rhys the Redeemed and/or Cathars' Crusade , to name only a few from the top of my mind. Of course you'll need some ramp to get her out in time, but there are more than enough ways to manage that. So don't underestimate her value outside standard.

Also, I'm sure you will someday reach the point where playing that one deck won't satisfy you anymore. The step from Simic to Bant isn't that big either. I don't sell rare or mythic cards unless I've got more than four (actually happened several times), because I'm bound to have a use for them sooner or later.

Try to trade both for Storm Crow . Fail because Storm Crow is obviously worth much more then Elspeth. Run away crying and take ChiefBell's advice.

Hold onto them to trade for something you want/need more.

Actually, if you're interested in seeing my deck and why I'm never going to run Elspeth, here it is.

I like Triforce-Finder's idea, plus a Door of Destinies , could also splash red for Assemble the Legion . Elspeth's -3 is pretty killer, if you find yourself stuck with them find a practical use, not too much reason for a planeswalker to gather dust.

jodaki - unfortunately Door of Destinies doesn't work with Soldier tokens because the door requires you cast the spell whereas the tokens are just put there.

Avernar - I'd keep them. I managed to get myself a playset of Elspeths that I have spread here and there among my EDH decks and trade binder. Honsetly, Elspeth is probably going to stabilize around $20-25 in my opinion after Born of the Gods and Journey into Nyx come out.

Well, I can see now that it wouldn't fit into your current deck. Thanks for posting it. That leaves only the question of possible future decks. I've started out with one deck, too. Now I've got 4 built, two that I'm reassembling constantly and am slowly accumulating cards for two new ones.

Anyways, you can walk both roads: Sell it while it's hot, and if you want to build something with it later, buy a cheap replacement after it rotated out and the price dropped. Of course, there's no guarantee for such a drop and JWiley129 could be quite right with his forecast...

If it were me, I'd give them both nicknames that don't sound anything alike, and program them on my phone using those nicknames, to guard against any future embarrassing situations where you call the wrong one or-

Wait what were we talking about again?
