what do you see karn dropping down to if at all?

He probably won't drop. He's being printed as a mythic, and going by the trends of the mythic rares in MMA, his price won't change unless his usefulness in the formats he's used in changes.

Or, he'll go up after a brief initial drop.

In my opinion, you can expect to see a 5-10 ish dollar drop for a while. Unlike Goyf, Clique, etc. he is not used in multiple strategies, or multiple formats (EDH only has 1 per deck obviously, so it's less impactful on demand than say, Legacy.).

He'll eventually go back up, but I wouldn't be worried about him not dropping. You'll know when the time is right to pick him up.

I need 3 for my tron deck. I'm guessing it wouldn't be a terrible investment to go ahead and pick them up right?

I don't think you lose much by picking them up now, no. They aren't going to halve in price.

Then again, if you save $5 a card that total of $15 could get you something else you need. It's literally less than a month away so are they that important to have this second? If so, get them, if not, get them in a month and probably something else you need too. It's unlikely to make a huge rise when MM15 is released so if you wait then at worst you get them for the same price just a month later with the upside that you save a few bucks and get something else you need.

I don't think that he'll go down much. He's a staple in multiple eternal formats, will never be reprinted (except in MM or other miscellaneous sets), and Tron is pretty strong in the current meta.

the never will be reprinted argument doesn't really mean much since he's currently being reprinted. That means his supply will increase. The question really is, will his demand increase? Which is debatable because it'd require the popularity of the decks that use him to rise (and there's no reason to predict such a rise) and the handful of EDH players picking up their copies they may need while they're available won't have as great of an effect because they don't need to buy in playsets. If the demand and supply both increase then it'll most likely stay right around where it's at with marginal movement. However, if there isn't an increase in demand to meet this increase in supply then he will drop some after the release of MM15. Note: His price won't slash in half but the drop will be noticeable especially when buying multiples like you are. Also, as I stated, this is tied to supply. That means his price won't suddenly drop upon the release of MM15, but over the next week or two you'll see prices start to reflect the increase in supply for cards that aren't in extreme demand.
