Where is Karn, Scion of Urza gonna settle at? It's crazy good in standard and decks are trying it in modern are we seeing another high priced karn that gonna retain value long term

"good in everything" is just plain not true. honestly, its only as high as it is because its a popular character. not because its actually good. i'm not sure where you're getting your info for your statement that "decks are trying it in modern". a 4 cmc card in modern has to provide some sort of immediate impact, which karn does not. as people test it more in standard, they'll realize there are better things to do with 4 mana. gettin a card of an opponents choice and then "maybe" the other card (if its even a good one) before karn gets attacked to death isn't really worth 4 mana imo.

i honestly never would have imagined it would reach even half the price it has, so the time to sell is now before the bubble pops. once it rotates out its price will plummet.

Rzepkanut: Smuggler's Copter is a pretty inaccurate comparison. the copter was half the mana and could attack for 3 in the air.

DragonGodKing90 Karn is currently being tested in control decks such as Mono U Tron. I don’t believe it will be terribly successful, but it is card advantage in non-blue decks. I think it will see some play.

It seems like most people who speak bad about the new Karn either have never played with it or can't afford them. There have been $100 standard cards in the past, notably they were also all planeswalkers. This one being colorless makes it have even more playability than any other before it. If it seriously drops in price in the next 2 years it would surprise me. Maybe it goes down to $50 again, but I doubt it. Unless its banned, which doesn't seem likely to me personally.

Karn has shown up in every single format. With some decks that finished top 8 in standard, modern, legacy (2 of in grand prix first place deck), and vintage. So I would assume that yes he is good. Anyone that just says he isn't any good, don't play competitively or pay attention to what is being played. will the price stay after rotation? Prob drop a lot, but if the meta for the other format don't adapt to his presence it will still be in high demand.

Rzepkanut: "people who speak bad about karn just havent played it or can't afford it"...uh, no dude. not. even. remotely. close. i speak from over 13 years of playing magic. a card has to be GOOD to be $100. just because its a planeswalker doesn't automatically make it good. maybe you missed the part where its +1 lets the OPPONENT choose the card you get. you think $50 is a "minimum" for a 4 mana card that lets your opponent choose which card you get? nah fam. plenty of better 4 mana cards that let ME make my own choices when i cast them.

pskinn01: thats just blatantly false. just because a card shows up in a deck that took a top spot, doesn't mean the card is good. it just means the REST of the deck was good. i could put Firedrinker Satyr in a deck, and even if the deck won first place at some event, the card would still be garbage.

At a highly competitive tourney like a legacy grand Prix, you won't win 1st with poor cards. And I have seen him work, and know that his +1 is not his only weapon. Making a colorless artifact x/x token is relevant in many decks. And a karn can use any card exiled with a silver counter, not just the ones he exiled. So if you get your win condition exiled with one, you can get it back with the next one you cast. And if he exiled a card that not relevant (ie you hit 2 lands), that helps your draws later in the game.

Once he rotates hell be at best $20 hes good outside of standard but he isn't very impactful so hell so minimal play his real home is in edh and casual decks

He is a very strong value planeswalker who shines in aggro matches and while his main strength lies in standard where the card pool is narrower, he is definitely playable in older formats. There is no doubt he is a strong card, however obviously he isn't broken or busted and there are situations where he is 4 mana draw a bad card (like against aggro).
All this means that his price tag is gonna end up high, but much lower than it is currently. His current price is inflated by the low supply of Dominaria and the set release hype, so he will definitely drop. I predict a similar price curve to Jace, Vryn's Prodigy Flip ending at $20 - $25 when he rotates.

I say he will be closer to $50 after rotation due to inclusion in at least Affinity, Big Red, Mono-Red Prison in Modern and Legacy. A strong card draw engine in commander for colors that need it. He is being highly played out of standard unlike Jace, Vryn's Prodigy Flip.

You can dump out a 6/6 on turn 2 in Modern Affinity with with Karn, Scion of Urza. He can be jammed into most decks in Standard. He's viable in Legacy and Vintage.
To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he does hit $100 as time goes on. He's probably comparable to Liliana of the Veil when she was in Standard. When she rotated out, she was $40. Over time, she's gone up over $100.
Short term, I think selling is reasonable. I think if he dips to $30~$40, I would probably start trying to pick them up for long-term savings.
And depending on how the Standard metagame develops with Karn, Scion of Urza, he could get banned if everyone just starts playing 4 copies. That's something to watch out for.

I doubt it goes down much until it rotates. It's like looter scooter, its just good in everything.
