So I recently opened him up and wanted to know what to do with him. My playgroup uses SCG and over there he's listed as around $15 which seems a little too high for me. So far I have seen no decks in which he would shine, and he costs 6 mana, something that could ruin almost any planeswalker. As you could probably tell i'm planning on getting rid of him, just wanted some extra opinions.

Sell immediately. He will only go down. He's at a low of $8 on TCGplayer already, and going down quick. He won't see play in the top 8 decks, so he won't go back up too much, if he does go up at all

I confirm the sell. There is not going on there for 6 mana. There are very few good 6 mana walkers and ajani is not it.

WARNING I USED THIS OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE MY FULL ANALYSIS OF THE CARD THERE IS A TLDR AT THE END TO DISCUSS PRICE CHANGES.

First off I just want to preface this by saying being 6 mana does not kill a planeswalker in fact it should make you look at it a lot closer as some of the most influencial standard planeswalkers have been 6 mana. That being said I have tested with him in what I would consider a pretty sub optimal deck for him and from my experience he is a very good card.

He is similar to nahiri in the sense that he can "infinitely" kill creatures but without the stipulation that they need to be tapped. By this I mean that his plus 2 and minus 2 make it so that as long as you plus him you can then minus him every single time after you plus him to kill any creature. If you look at Ob Nixilis Reignited Jace, Unraveler of Secrets Chandra, Torch of Defiance Sorin, Grim Nemesis they cannot do this without killing themselves and that is a BIG deal.

Now his plus 2 is not only a great advantage but also his downfall. Getting only non land permanents makes it so that you have to make your deck a certain way and it makes it hard to play a lot of spells so he doesnt really fit in a typical control shell where most 6 mana planeswalkers would shine because sometimes its a risk to put certain spells on the bottom of your library. That being said there are PLENTY of ways to utilize his plus one so that you can play him and make him a powerhouse in your deck and those ways just so happen to be in GW.

GW has a million creatures and Gideon, Ally of Zendikar for threats as well as Stasis Snare Thopter Arrest Quarantine Field for removal so in a dedicated deck with him as the top end I think he could be the card that puts a gw deck back on the map again since GW tokens last standard.

In conclusion he is an incredible card and very well could be a standard powerhouse but his limitation to basically just a GW deck with threats and somewhat inefficient removal makes him a bit weaker than normal.

Tldr I think he will end up around 8-11 dollars most of his time in standard unless a good GW deck puts up some serious finishes at some point but if it does then he will be closer to 17-19 so I would just get rid of him for now even though he is already pretty cheap.

GW is MADE for creatures, and while you will probably never ultimate him, if it ever does hit, the game is over (but of course, the same can be said for most all PW ultimates). His +2 is a non-land filter, great if you need them, his -2 is Swords to Plowshares, albeit at sorcery speed, but is unconditional, unlike Nahiri, the Harbinger. The guy has a high ceiling, and it will only take one or two good decks to make his price skyrocket. I would hold onto him for a little while, unless he is burning a hole in your pocket. He isn't eating anything, is he?
