I have a playset of Satyr Firedancer and they sit at about $2.29 a piece. I have a feeling they will drop in price after the BOTG hype dies down, but idk. Its either sell them or work on red deck wins with my Flame-Wreathed Phoenix .

Run them. Satyr Firedancer is a beautiful card, and is one of the things that obliterates Satyr Firedrinker, funnily enough. I can punch my opponent for 3, kill his creature, and hit him for three again. Where do I lose in this situation?

He lets you get double duty out of every burn spell you run EXCEPT fated Conflagration. That said, he's probably going to be killed or countered, but by doing so, they've used up a limited resource on him, leaving you more breathing room for other cards, like Flame-wreathed Phoenix. And as noted, if they don't? Hit them for 2 or 3, kill a creature as well. Run him with Searing blood. potential to kill 2 creatures and hit your opponent for 3.

I'm not huge on MTG econ, but if a card is worth as little as a couple bucks wouldn't it just be worth it to hold on to them indefinitely until they maybe make a breakout in an eternal format or something and their prices go up to >5 dollars?

ideally but i still have a giant pile of worthless cards i will never use that I might have gotten a couple bucks for at one point. I'll probably hold onto them jut because red deck wins is so easy to make.

I used to be in the same situation and got sort of irritated with myself for losing out on a couple bucks here and there for cards such as this, but I was happy to hold onto them because they were a perfect gift for my GF once I taught her how to play :)

The card debuted at $5 and it's only slipped to half its price since then. The Boros Burn deck also has been tried and basically discarded for its lack of power, and that is essentially folds to Master of Waves .

I would sell. If you find you end up wanting them for the deck you can buy them again in a few weeks for likely much less.

Once you realise that mtg is a hobby and that it's a monney sink, that big pile of worthless card won't matter anymore.

Put them in a binder and someday try to play them... Sure it suck to have some "cash" sleeping in a binder, but at 2$ each..... A shop will maybe give you 1$ if they need the card.... My opinion is you'll have more fun trying to play them than trying to trade/sell them

Use him with Turn / Burn : they attack you turn it and block, and burn your opponent for two, which then redirects down and hits another creature. Now if you have Gorgon's Head on him, both opponents creatures die and he takes 2 to the face. This is just an example, but illustrates how it may be possible to break this guy. I've run him in a boros build the last two weeks without the gorgons head with mixed results. Next time out I'm going to try an American control build (see my deck lists).

With all that said, I'd hold onto him just because he's a fun card.

$2 rares unless NEEDED in my area are still 20cent bulk trade in, you could always try and trade them to people full value towards things you want, never know whos lookiing for certain things, also a lot of 50cent rares are great edh cards

I think the card is too low to really contemplate this. I do not play standard, but I thing burn might be on the up, and he seems important for that.

I just bough a playset for $2 each and will be hanging on to mine for now. I suspect that certain Theros and Born of the Gods cards will have a huge spike in value once the Ravnica block rotates out... Satyr Firedancer included.
