Khans Booster Box Worth Buying?

With the prices of the fetchlands skyrocketing, is it worth if to buy a Khans booster box for the average going rate of ~$90? About 5 fetches (averaging out the prices) would immediately be value (disregarding any other value). Out of 36 packs that seems reasonable. Thoughts?
The main thing that is causing me hesitation is the value (or lack thereof) in almost anything expect for the fetches. There is not a single non-fetchland card currently going for $8 and only 4 above $5...

Is there anything from the set you are after? Would any of the cards be likely to go up if you held on to them? Or just drop once they rotate out of standard?

There is not much I am specifically after (I picked up most of the cards I wanted a while back/pulled them from packs). There are a few cards that see some eternal play but not many and nothing liable to increase in price quickly, at least in my opinion (disregarding fetchlands, of course).

Well, the idea of buying the box was the increasing value of the Fetchlands, which are not going to be in BFZ.

I just did some calculations, and I believe you can expect an average of 3 fetchlands per box. Not enough to make back your money. Monastery Swiftspear is in the set at uncommon, but it would still be unlikely to return 100% of your investment. You still might want to buy the box, but you can't guarantee value.

Where I live we don't have a LGS or anywhere to buy boxes from :(

I still have 3 sealed boxes of Khans in my closet. Either I will rip them open when I feel really depressed one day, or I will sell them in 2-3 years time for 250$ when fetches have reached their old value.

I'd say go for it. I'm planning on snapping up all the Khans that I can when I get my school check this go around. Fetches, Dig Through Time, my current spec target Ghostfire Blade... Not bad all around. Plus (shudders) Siege Rhino.

Buy a box and hold onto it for a couple years. Down the road, sealed KTK boxes will be worth a lot, because of fetch potential in the box.

I think you people over value what the fetches will do when they rotate a good amount of their price is due to standard demand. Not a whole lot but at the same time they definitely wont increase much I would think in even 2 years. They would do almost exactly what the shocks did and just stay at a price which I personally think for some will be lower than their current price.

I'm not sure EmblemMan is entirely correct about the fetch value coming from standard demand, but I think once we see the inevitable reprint of Zendikar fetches in the next year or two, the value of all fetchlands will be significantly stable and low for a few years. Still, people remember how high Scalding Tarn once got... experienced MTG players will always try to trade for fetchlands, despite how many have flooded (strand) the market

I'd buy Theros, all the Gods are going to shoot up after its gone from standard and it has ashiok , elspeth and thoughtseize as well as scry lands which may go up a bit in years to come.

Thanks for all of the comments! It really helps to have others' opinions on both sides of the decision.
SimicPower: Thanks for that! Having the knowledge of the average number of fetches I could expect (although it obviously varies a lot) helps! Thanks!
EmblemMan: I don't see the price of these fetches going down any time soon. The only thing I see bringing down the price is the reprint of Zendikar fetches in a standard block, which is definitely not going to happen until Khans rotates. Also, the fetches are played in literally every format they are legal in, so their demand is definitely not limited to standard.
JakeHarlow: The price of Khans (Onslaught) fetches went up when it was announced that BFZ would not have any fetchlands. I assume that was the primary reason for this spike.

Ah, I see. So the price hop wasn't restricted to the Zendikar ones, huh?

The price jumps of all fetches are mostly intertwined, because of how replaceable they are in different decks. For example, in a U/R deck, Scalding Tarn is your best land to get. However, you can get 4 Flooded Strand (and then some) for the price of a single Scalding Tarn currently, which is why some people decide to make these budget calls in their modern decks, which ultimately does drive down the demand on Scalding Tarn due to Strand acting as a filler. Also note how every Zendikar fetchland nearly dropped in half in price on the announcement of Khans fetchlands almost a year ago.

I cracked 3 khans boxes. One had 6 fetches one had 3 and the other had 1. IMO you'd be better off scoopin' up 5-8 of them instead of getting a box. But cracking packs is awesome too....

Khans value is deflated due to fetches, but the boxes will prob sell for over 90 in a couple years due to them.
Theros was a fun set for alot of people, but I just don't think the value is there.
Preorder boxes of BFZ will be a hot ticket item I think. Preorder those, and sit on them.

Do it! Decent chance to make your money back, opening boosters is fun and increasing your collection is always good. What is there to lose? (other than $90) :P
